hey guy's, i have a 86 lonestar 250r, its got pritty much everything you can put on it but the 2-stroke is just not cutting it anymore, its so hard to ride and i pritty much quit riding it and its rotting away in my garage. i realy would love 2 keep the bike and put a nice 4-stroke motor in it, i was just wondering whut all i needed. how hard is it to find a crf frame and do i have to modify my 250r swimgarm? or can it just bolt right up? i just want to know whut all im going to have to do before i start this project so i dont get over my head. any help or advice would be appciated. btw looking to build a crf450 hybrid.

u probably could sell that and have enough money to buy a complete 250r hybrid...there is a jrd on ebay going pretty cheap, outacontral has that hermmann hybrid for a good price, matter of fact he wants to trade for a 250r...contact him! there is a few on here...search a little.

I agree there are some hybrid frames floating around I'm not saying you cant put a crf in that frame but it would prob a lot less work and prob not that much more money. plus 250R aftermarket frames are getting more rare all the time two if you hack that thing your gona lose a lot if its value. I think even though you might spend a little more buying a hybrid frame you'll get better resale than you would if you mod. that frame.

What do you mean its so hard to ride? What kind of motor do you have? Is it ported?

whut i mean by its so hard to ride is its a 2-stroke, i had this bike before my yfz450 and im spoiled now, everytime i get on that R it feels like it's more work than fun, not near as smooth or fast as the yfz, the 4-stroke is just where it's at. and yes the R is ported.

thanks guys, yeah i wouldnt chopp my frame up i would end up getting a crf frame, i will keep looking. dose anyone know if my swingarm would bolt right up to a crf frame? i have herd you have to modify it to make it work. thanks again for all the info.

I seen a lsr crf frame sub frame and no link swing arm on here a little while ago that would be the way to go everthing shoud switch right over. look though the fourm I think it was listed by pro-trax

I've done a crf450 conversion in a warlock 250r chassis and it was a pain. The top frame rails are to low to fit the top of the engine that's why everyone that does a 2 to 4 stroke conversion uses the yz because its shorter. Just get a frame for the engine you want I'm sure someone will buy your frame

Just buy a new frame, there's an LSR one on ebay right now I think.

Pro-trax is selling his Lonestar CRF hybrid frame.

I'd see if he'd sell it for $1200 shipped unless you don't like the color.

You can then sell your frame/swingarm for the same price maybe $1000 and all it costs you is the difference rather than hacking up your frame which will cost at least the same in new powder.

Do the same with your motor and you are all set. Everything will just swap over.
