I ride locally at a DNR park that has trails, jumps, ruts, etc. It is very bumpy to say the least but the jumps are great. Looking to upgrade possible the shocks and A arms. Not sure even how to go about sizing this up. Any suggestions?

Today at the park I was able to keep up with 500's and 450's on the jumps but I think my shocks are holding me back a bit. Trying to throttle thru the bumpy areas is harder than hell to hold on. Those guys flew thru like nothing.

if i were you i wouldnt go any more than +2's. the set up im about to ride is +3 Burgard a-arms and 450r front stock shocks. they are a great upgrade and also keeps the cost way down. definitely do some research on arms and make sure you read about them before you go buying them. some people say good and bad things about certain brands, and it will help you make up your mind easier.

Lonestar!! Expensive, but worth it! Just my opinion though, but they are tried, tested and proven!

If your just running trails and have no intention of MX then I would get some +1 arms and either a g-force axle or lonestar. It really depends on how much money you want to spend. Shocks are going to be the largest expense. Again depending on how much you want to spend you can do a conversion on the stock rear or buy new aftermarket one. I was just looking for shocks for my 250R and the 450r shocks are nice and inexpensive only if you are putting them on +3 arms or you weigh alot because they are so stiff. After the cost of buying them used and then the cost of having them revalved or converted your looking at $700+.

How come everybody says the r shocks are sooo stiff? They arent too stiff at all for me even trail riding, and i could use alot more for on the tracks. So unless you guys are like 90 pounds idk how they can be soo hard to you guys.

I had Elka's with rezzies and Housers and also with Burgard +3's. The Housers are built a lot sturdier, to include bigger ball joints. The Burgards worked fine on the track but i still snapped one of the ball joints on a minor rollover. For the type of riding you do I would go with max +2's and don't skimp on the shocks if you can help it, you get what you pay for.

If you ride in a DNR park i would say stock front a-arms are good

The KEY to the 400ex is a gt thunder rear linkage. The honda 400ex and R kick bad. the linkage helps a lot. I would say you would be amazed at how great it rides if you got a rear linkage, rear revalve. and front shocks hls or 450r revalved for a 400
