Should I go for this deal???

Okay so I need money for college tuition.
I've already got a bike I ride.

I found a guy who has an 03 z400 for sale that has the following:
440 kit
pipe/jetted
renthal bars
full skids
razrs all around

he says it runs great and has all the power it should, but it smokes.

He's asking 1300 for it, and doesnt sound all that firm on the price either. If I bought it I would be re-selling it or parting it out

Could this just be a jetting issue that it's smoking?

Please let me know what you guys think. I'm a honda guy, I don't know much about z's or suzuki's in general.

Should I buy it and fix whatever makes it smoke and then sell it, or part it out?

Or should I just keep my money.??

it could be rings ,it could be rings and piston , it could be rings piston and the jug.
if it an Athena then them parts are on the expensive side and not fun to replace.
just the ring and gaskets are more than a days wage if its an athena...........(maybe 3 days):huh
do you have time to part it out ,will you make 50% on your investment, how long will it take ?

I'm going to look at the quad right now.

I know it would take me a long time to part it al out, but it may be worth it

I wouldn't bother unless you can get it for under a grand. I just got my dvx for 1600 and it runs perfect. You're diffinately going to have to drop some good cash to get it running right.

Okay so i went to look at the quad.

It's beat to hell.

Needs a clutch cable and rear brakes.

leaks oil like hell.

POURS white smoke at all times.

and it's beat beat beat.

I rode it, and it had a ton of torque compared to my 400ex, but i said no thanks.
