Isn't the femur the strongest bone in the body? I bet that felt great.

man u have no idea. they say it takes like 1500lbs to break and it broke mid stride in a jog. at first they thought i may have a bone disease and there was a small chance of bone cancer that could have made it weak but they said i was healthy as an ox pretty much. now they think i may have fractured it sometime before it happened.

Count your blessings! When I read the first post I was thinking the same thing!!

Sucks to have it broke, but good lord it could have been a sign of something terrible.

Heal up quick!!

I broke one of those stupid things once. Are they gonna insert a metal rod and a few screws?

thanks a lot guys. it scared me pretty bad but like you said Pappy it could be a lot worse!! :scary:

I got plates put in. i think the doc said it would be easier on my knee than a rod would. i just hope it doesnt give me problems down the road

Ouch!!!

I hate to break it to ya ( no pun intended) , but any kind of foreign metals are gunna give you problems . Welcome to the world of Meteorology my friend ... you be predicting changes of weather 2 days before it happens.

Broke my femur once as a result of not wearing a seat belt.

Felt pretty great.. but your skull is actually the strongest bone in your body. Your femur does take 1500psi to break though.

Good luck man. Heal up as fast as possible.

The plates are more of a hassle while they're in, but once they take them out (if you choose, and I recomend it..) everything feels more normal. A rod usually leaves a big knot of bone at the break site.:(

I broke my femur in multiple places when I was 12 years old racing motocross... I know the feeling and what your going through. I had external pins for 6 months and didn't walk for a year. I've never been able to run right since either:( :o

I wore that same set up ^^^^ for 3 weeks. It rebroke and slipped out of place, so they put a rod in.

I was riding 6 months later:devil:

That's pretty insane. I think if it were me, I'd be on my way to a specialist ASAP; that should not happen while jogging!! Something doesn't seem right about that.

so i feel ur pain homie. just rest up and let the Dr's do there thing. you be back 100% in not time. just keep up the hard work and keep your thoughts positive. trust me, thats will be a battle in its self. good luck with everything

Mine were too. 2 pins on each broken side.

They were in for 3 weeks, and when I went in for xray, they seen that the bone had come out of place, so they just went ahead and put the rod in it.

Ive got pics of the bars and the rod if you wanna call BS. :p
