Well my 05' came to a stop the other day..i was going slow and it hesitated for a split second and then just shut off. went to kick it and my kicker was froze. havent even looked at it since i'm disgusted. has about 20 hours since i re-rung it and added HRC cam. yes it had plenty of oil. Thoughts on this?

sounds like maybe my worst fears are being confirmed. today if i'm up to it after work, i'm going to drain the oil and see if there are metal shavings in there. could it be just the kicker gear or just the top end?? i'm using wishful thinking right now; i just dont see how i'm going to be able to afford this. sux.

sounds like the thrust washer disentegrated,,,pull oil filter cover and filter and look for metal flake,,looks like glitter,,the fix is if that is it,,,is pull the engine and drop a hot rods heavy duty oem like crank in it,,,you wan''t have any more problems

Crank, you probably did not ketch it early.. Take a look on this form you can finde some sick deals on 450 parts at this forum www.450r.org. My friend also blew his crank b and he rebuild it off of that sight and I dont think it came over 600$. Thought it is second hand parts and it is some what of a risk..

Good stuf at least you did not finde any brass shavins. There might not be that much wear. I still think its your crank bearings. But this is a sigh of it not costing as much as it could lol.. Good luck

Chances are it's your thrust washers. Regardless, if it's crank
bearing or thrust washers, you will need a crank rebuild or replacement. $$$$:ermm: Good luck.

ditto, same thing happened to our 04. Took it to the dealer cause I have extended warranty. Joke - it doesn't cover half the stuff you need to get back to riding. Yeah good luck. Hurry back to riding

well when it happened to us, two weeks into the dealer nonsense, my answer was go to a different dealer & get a new one. it took them 90 days to return my quad back & it ended w/ the cops showing up .................................... I was right & they were wrong but its just a waste of everyones time. They told me I was trespassing - I don't think so, you called me & said come get.

I feel for you dude! Suck it up. The alternative would be a used
replacement crank. Someone may have a good used crank to
sell cheap. It might be a temporary fix, but it would get you back
in the saddle. ;) Good luck.
