hi! everyone i just got a used coolhead today and theres no o-ring groves in it and it looks like i have to use the stock head gasket wich makes the head kinda useless so im here wondering if i need a cr head gasket and if so from what year thanks Frank

The head is still useful, it has larger water jackets than the stock head. Many people continue to run the restrictive stock gaskets because it slows the flow of water in that area, allowing more heat to soak into the coolant.

Why not call Tom, owner of Pro Designs. He is the guy who actually builds the Cool Heads. For a small fee he can cut o-ring grooves in it for you.

I did this to mine, so I never have to use gaskets again.

Two different schools of thought on the cooling properties with or without the OEM gasket. I just picked the easier maintenance idea (no gasket).
