Header Size Switch

im getting a big bore kit for my 400 and was told i should get a bigger header pipe and exhaust to let more air out and i was wondering if i just went on ebay bought a bigger header for a 400ex if it would fit my stock engine

also wondering if i went and got one of the power bomb header how would i get a slip on to fit it do i need an adapter?

Most aftermarket full system exhausts have bigger headers. And an slip on will fit the powerbomb.

the power bomb though dosnt have the 2 head pipes it is just one ? and you think it would be a good thing to get a new system i got white bros and im getting a 440 kit put in and getting it rejeted

I did that on mine.. Super easy to do.. and anyone who knows anything about airflow will know its worth the 10 min it takes once its off..


though i have no baseline to compare it to. since my motor is a little modded

keep the whitebros its a good pipe.just grind down the header welds

what do you mean by grinding it down ill have to go look at mine and see if i understand where u r coming from

you can grind the header welds down, but you will still not get the flow you need for that 440. grinding the header welds down is good for a lot lesser of a modified engine. a full system is the only way to go with the 440

I have the full WB system on my 440, I am pleased with it. there are much better full systems out there but WB is the biggest bang for the buck

i got white brothers but its stock header by the looks of it when i get the money ill prolly just get a new system and get it re jeted again

They are a waist of money and dont do the job that a full exhaust should.

If you dont go with a WB, my choice would be HMF, LRD, or Curti Sparks, which you will pay MUCH more for than the WB and the WB will give you about the same result as any of the others I mentioned above.
And I wouldnt suggest mixing header and slip on manufacturers. If you already have a WB slip on, call WB and ask if they have a header that fits to your slip on.

alright thanks i love my wb but i just want a bigger header that would still fit the slip on some how
