I'm about the happiest dude right now. I just drove an hour, with my 400ex in the back and came home with a 450r!
It was getting dark but I had to take it for a spin and Im definately in love. I'll get pics up tomorrow, but its an 05 and still has the original brake pads and handle bar grips on it. Not a spot of rust on the frame or wore off paint anywhere. Its been sitting for about 3/4's of its life. Can't wait to take it to the track.

No I didnt get to keep much except for my beadlocks. So I got a extra rear set for practice.

I rode it alot today and I never noticed the fan ever coming on. Is this normal? Does it have to get extremely hot for the fan to kick on? Whats a good way to test and see if it works?

Never mind, I been reading and evidentally the fan hardly ever comes on unless its idling for a while, etc.

Plans our to get into racing MX. I took like 3 trips to the track on my 400 and that was enough to convince me to get a 450. I'll post pics tonight.

I let him keep the headlight, for my 400, and so I have no hood at all on my 450r. So if anyone has something cheap, lemme know.

I let it idle for about 5-8 minutes and fan still never kicked on. Radiator was pretty hot and started steaming from all the moisture. That was probaly because of me spraying it off earlier.

My temp light and everything comes on while it starts, but I never see it come back on. I guess I should let it idle for about 10 minutes or so.

I had a bad coolant sensor in mine a month or so ago. Take the wire off the senson near the upper radiator hose and ground it on one of the bolts near it. The fan should come on. If it does not the sensor is bad assuming that you have gotten the engine hot enough.

In my exprience the fan rarely comes on, you will know it is to hot if the redlight comes on other than start up and/or if she starts to boilover steam should come out of the hose that is ran into the steering stem, but even if that starts to happen, its a honda and she can finish the race with no troubles,lol:macho

take the plug off the wire that goes to the themostat and ground it to the frame. fan will run all the time !!! it helps keep the beast cool

Its came on a few times since I made this thread long ago. I wouldn't want it running the whole time. It hardly ever comes on at the track.
