camshaft dowels?

I am still in the process of a rebuild and when i put my cam in i noticed the cam bearing retaining dowells? Not sure what they really are that is what im calling them,any way my cam seems to be to long because the dowells sit in the holes crooked , any ideas?

make sure the bearings are seated all the way on the camshaft.

If you don't put them straight in, that is how they will sit. How did you install them? I think one side first is easier than the other side first.:D
