Hey guys... I started this thread on WWW.TRX250R.NET, and wanted to post my results here also. Here is the original thread:

http://www.*********.net/trx250rforums/index.php?showtopic=3168&st=0

Here are the final results:

Okay, here it is, the finished product! Lots of changes, I will try to list them all:

-Had mounting bracket made out of billet aluminum at machine shop.
-Ordered some mini-heim joints for a Cannondale steering stabilizer
-Had stainless steel tie rod made at machine shop.
-Ordered 10 Keinserts from Fastenal (M10x1 OD - M6 ID)
-Ordered M6 stainless hardware to mount everything
-Had stainless spacers made for heim joint clearance (1/8" thick - M6 ID)
-Clearanced all holes in stabilizer for metric hardware (this is a Honda after all)
-Used Red Loc-Tite on all hardware

The stabilizer works great. It has settings 1-8, and with the front of the quad on a jack and the stabilizer on level 8 we (my wife and I) can barely turn the handlebars. On level 1 it feels as if the stabilizer is not even there. I think level 3-4 should do it for us in the sand.

Stabilizer and steering stem clamp - $100 shipped
Billet aluminum mounting bracket, stainless tie rod, stainless spacers, heim joints - ~$100
Overall cost - ~$200

I have the drawing for the mounting bracket, but it is for a Laeger Narrow frame.

Enjoy, James

James, That is super cool, If I didnt have so much tied up in a GPR, I would have to have one.

The other forum gets so little traffic, but there was a good question on this post in that forum.

Are the 400EX front frame sections the same dimensions as the 250R's? By dimensions I mean frame rail width, steering stem angles, etc?

Someone had the great idea of trying the 400EX mounting plate from CCP on the 250R frame.

It's summer - everything is dead.

I would like to get one of these setups for the narrow front.

Well, I can help you on the Narrow Front End setup... I think that is either two or three that are interested on the narrow so far.

I will give it a little more time then attempt to setup the collecting of deposits. Manufacturing will not be too big of a deal, pretty quick. I would like to modify a few things that I did with my setup. I can get it a bit lighter.

I may actually sell my setup as the prototype at a reduced cost.

Any ideas on the 400EX vs 250R front end comparison question?

James
