need a good head unit for my truck whats good and whats not?

ok so im workin on fixin up my sound system in my truck it is a 99 f-250. anyways right now i have 2 kicker door speakers on the way to determine if i want to get 2 more for the rear or get 2 rockford fosgates. so i will have 4 speakers and eventually two 8" shallow mount subs so i need a head unit that has some good power abilities and such. and i don't really know where to start.
i would love a dvd player one but im not looking to break the bank either. i need something that will power door speakers well/be functional/last/and would like it to look sweet. anyways i figured some of you guys prob know more about this so i thought i would ask. any help would be great thanks . oh and it must must must be able to accept ipod either by aux cord or any other way they do it these days besides the devices that tune to the radio station.

pioneer for headunit.

u r gonna want amps.

to do it right, kicker. however, dhd has some good amps too. problem with dhd is they dnt put out what they claim.


if u use dhd go with a 2000 watt 2 channel amp. :)

Pioneer for the head unit as Gcart said. But my preferance on amps are out of price range for the regular Joe. I'm an audio junkie. If it were me I would get a Rockford 4 channel amp to run your mid's/high's and a Hifonics or Sundown amp to run the subs. What wattage amp you get all depends on the power rating of your subs.

-Don't go off the Max power output of your subs and amp, go off your RMS.

good headunit? Eclipse, very good line level output and usually front, rear and sub RCA's. Also if the security is armed and someone steals it they wont be able to use it. use to be if stolen in a year they will replace it. ive had mine for prob 8 yrs and never had a problem. prob a little higher price wise but its work it.

and i the pioneeer z1...is like the most amazing thing on the planet.....it is like pure ecstasy in your vehicle...

unfortunateldy...you have too have a small fortune to own one...

go to pioneer...any of there stuff is good...for about 200 bucks you can a cd player with just about as much adjustability as you can use...they are powerful enough....but ifyou want tru power..you want to amp your speakers......and if you get teh ones wtih organic el......they look awesome

now that is good head unit....i have an older version of that exact model, and it has been a great unit to this day...its what has turned me onto pioneer...their quality an performance...

you wont be able to watch dvds on that thing....but the adjustability on that thing let alone makes it completely worth it..if you wee to purchase that today...you will not be disapointed

plust thats a premier...thatsthe best of the best...thats what their audio team uses, alll premier stuff...heck mine wastn even a premier, and i loved mine

they are basically the same thing......look at it this way, the second pioneeer headunit you linked...has excellent adjustibility....and fantatic sound.....welll the premier has adjustibility on steroids....and even better sound quality....plus has a cooler screen...

trust me...you don want to skimp out when itcomes toyour head unit..cause that is truly the one most important aspect of a good audio system....its all about signal processing.....a good head unit will make stock speakers sound better

also...as a driveer...the originallocation of teh speakr s inyour car are designed to provide the best sound to the front area, where teh driver is sitting in the car...so as importan as it sounds to replace your rear speakers...a good head unit its of utmost importance....but it is your money...all three of those would be a good to great purchace

honeslty...i think to turly adjust a head unit to your liking..its a little tricky at first...but once you start palying around with it, you will figure it out..

both that i have had....after plahyign wtih them..they are very eas to use

I've had pioneer,sony, panasonic, kenwood, and aiwa. Aiwa was the biggest turd I have ever had. All the others were fantastic. Seriously I punched the aiwa about 4 inches into my dashboard, it would play selective cd's even fresh out of the package. After I smashed it I put in one of my old panasonics and the sound difference was unbelievable

me and a friend both tried Aiwa and didnt last but just a few months. Those sucked the most ive ever seen,

I like Alpine and Pioneer.

My Alpine is great I love it The Ipod controls are great, just wish it had a good Equalizer. I don't like how far you have to turn up the Pioneers. Takes forever to go from volume 0 to a good listening level(50).
