I've replaced two clutch cables in the past month on my cousin's YFZ. I tried adjusting the slack out of each one and there isn't enough adjustment. What could be causing them to get so much slack in them? Could the clutch be wore out and casue this?

Are you adjusting the one that is underneath the gas tank. There are two adjustments for the clutch cable, one at the lever and a barrel nut under the tank. I put asv levers on and had to adjust both to get out all of the slack.

yea, i've adjusted both of them. and what aggravates me is i've replaced the cable twice in a month and i can't figure out what it is. both of them did the same thing

You need to call ASV and have them send you the spacer that goes in the perch adjuster.

They really should include this in their kit, but don't.

Get a hydraulic clutch, you can tie it in a loose knot, and it will still work. Best part you do not have to adjust it, install it bleed it, and away you go.

I love my Magura. Just make sure you get one with a steel braided tube, not the crappy composite tube.

Here is the clutch perch:

Here is the steel cable:

Im sure if you look arround a bit, you can find it a lot cheaper.

^^If it was mine, that's what i'd do, but it's my cousin's and he doesn't want to spend that much money. I do all of the work on this quad for him. But my question still wasn't answered, what is causing this? is the cable stretching out, or is the clutch itself worn out? I want an idea of what it is before i tear into it.

I would check the clutch plates. However, I do not see the plates being worn enough to extend the cable past its limmits, and the clutch not be slipping to the point the bike will not move.

If the clutch is slipping, I would definatly inspect it for excessive ware. If it need replaced, I found a great inexpensive kit on Ebay.

Here it is:
