Day 1 of the first anual "Dream Camp" got kicked off at daylight as riders began the registration and orientation portion of the event.

The camp would feature Pro ATV and Bike riders giving instruction on a small group basis and after the ride around the facility to get everyone familiar with the event, the riders would soon be broken up into groups for the days work

Pappy
07-20-2009, 09:51 PM
The camp filled to capacity and in these hard economic times, that is a good thing! Riders of some very varied skill levels would get 4 days of hands on instruction at one of the premier riding locations on the east coast!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 09:57 PM
Jason "Dunk" Dunkleberger would be onhand all 4 days offering personal instruction in any area that any rider felt they needed help on.

Dunk wasted no time in meeting and greeting his group and would soon have them doing things alot of them never even thought of!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 09:58 PM
Stations were set up for the various instructors they have on hand and the day would begin...hands on all the way!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 09:59 PM
This wasn't any coddling type of instruction, Dunk put them in the dirt right off the bat!!!!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:00 PM
The riders soon relized that not every thing they would learn would be on the quad as pre- race stretching and warm up is or should be part of every riders routine.

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:02 PM
Warm up laps allowed the riders to get used to the layout of the rack, and a time for Dunk to catch a glimpse of what he had to work with and look for areas where he might be able to help a rider on a 1 on 1 level. The skill levels varied from a few first time riders to a few that can really rip on a mx track!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:05 PM
Not only was the skill level varied, so was the equipment. From stockers to highly modified, this ATV group had enough differences to challenge both the rider and instructor! Dunk did not just chat, he dove right in and was showing these guys everything from the basics to block passes!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:08 PM
Cornering was the main focus of today and will be for the next 3 as it is an very important skill needed to run at the track or on the trail. Not once did I see Dunk shy away from getting in there and using himself as the pivot point for a corner. The riders were doing exactly what he asked and in a very short time, were tackling things alot faster then they did before.

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:10 PM
When talking wasn't enough, Dunk geared up and showed the riders how he wanted it done!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:14 PM
The instruction ranged from typical cornering, to aggressive riding that should help these guys pick off a few unsuspecting riders at the next local race!

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:17 PM
Even though our rider is a XC racer, he was looking forward to learning things. The cornering work paid off as he was now confident in getting in and out of a corner much faster and was soon clearing doubles that required a hard charge from a corner in order to clear them.

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:20 PM
Some of the instruction and practice might have seemed like it wasn't working, but after a few actual pass attempts and picking new lines, these guys were picking up speed and confidence that will help them as we move into day 2 and on to a more techinical part of thier training

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:23 PM
The limitations were soley based on rider ability and machine set up.....the instruction was not lacking and not one question went unanswered.

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:26 PM
Dunk wasn't the only instructor and the Youth class was in full swing all day as well. The basics and advanced instruction will be thier focus as we head through the week

Pappy
07-20-2009, 10:30 PM
We had to head home before the dinner was set out, but classroom instruction on quad maintnence was underway when we left.

We will be getting some much needed sleep tonight and back there at daylight and hopefully with some rest under our belts, we can hang out tomorrow evening and partake in the fun that the evening activities bring!

Day 1 is in the books and we will bring you highlights from each day as we move forward!

Sick! Wish I had the money & time to be there.

This one has had such a good responce, that Dan is thinking of expanding it to 3 events next season. This first one is a big learning expierence but sure seemed to go well today and I expect things to really get cranked up tomorrow!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:36 PM
Day 2 was underway early as everyone was eager to get things underway. A jog around the track and more push-up's would get everyone's blood flowing!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:37 PM
The tracks were in great shape for the days instruction as everyone put in laps to get things loosened up before starting the group sessions once again.

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:41 PM
Dan's group was looking sharp as they tackled the bigger jumps today. These riders were barely clearing the smaller tables yesterday!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:42 PM
Dunk was going to work them on alot of things today. Corners, passing, seat bounce and scrubbing all would be on the days agenda

Dunk shows us how it's done!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:43 PM
The riders could get a very close look at what he had been teaching them, and they took it all in!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:45 PM
Dunk and every other instructor was right there, mere feet from the riders as they gave instruction to each and all.

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:46 PM
If a rider seemed to get the hang of what was being taught quickly, Dunk would pull them aside and have them add to the lesson, but he was never more then an arms reach away as he watched every single rider for any area he could offer assistance to

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:47 PM
He ate plenty of roost and dust as he was hands on with every aspect.

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:48 PM
Dan watches one of his riders work a small table as he helped them dial in the jumps

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:56 PM
It wasn't all work as activities offer everyone breaks from the work.

Dan had been up since daylight grooming tracks, and had put in several hours with his group and after lunch, everyone was going to cool off in the pond:p

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:57 PM
The pond isn't completley done, but it was cool and wet and thats all that mattered!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 07:58 PM
Dunk was eager to get cooled off, but he did it with some flair!:D

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:01 PM
Dunk hits the ramp and off he goes!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:02 PM
Several folks couldn't wait to dunk Dunks Trek:p

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:03 PM
Riding it in :p

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:04 PM
There sure was alot of fun being had!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:05 PM
You really didn't have a choice, you either jumped in or were thrown in:blah:

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:06 PM
Dan has a sandy beach planned, a waterslide, a rope swing and god knows what else he will come up with!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:07 PM
He had already tried jumping from that swing(see pic above) and busted his arm all up:p

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:08 PM
Dan's lifegaurds are pretty mean looking:D

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:09 PM
Riding, hanging out with friends and having a kick *** time is what BPG is all about....and just because this was a serious week of training, the fun wasn't going to take a back seat.

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:12 PM
Before long it was back to work as everyone geared up for the afternoon sessions

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:14 PM
Dunk hopped on a stock Z400 and showed everyone how to handle this whoops section. After he made two runs, someone asked what sound was coming from it's engine....he replied "The Rev Limiter!"

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:15 PM
Just about everyone was able to hit them full throttle after that demo:p

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:26 PM
Drills continued as everyone got to go at each other as corners were the name of the game

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:27 PM
Switching from corners to a new technique on a jump kept things moving

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:29 PM
Seat bouncing was a good drill. Dunk made everyone stop about 15 feet from the take off then hit the gas and launch over the double!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:32 PM
Some riders took right to it

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:36 PM
For some, it took some creative thinking on Dunks part:p

A discarded tear off served as a reminder, and it was placed on the seat and the rider was told to not let it come out until they were in the air.....

Workd like a charm for those who just couldnt make it happen!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:36 PM
It worked for Cody as he was now doing it without thinking about it:p

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:38 PM
There were moments ofcourse:p Who hasnt looped out:blah:

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:39 PM
Moving from one spot to the next always meant a lap or two just to stay loose:devil:

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:41 PM
It was plenty hot and dry, but today was alot better then yesterday. Running corner and passing drills took its toll as the sun cooked us:p

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:42 PM
Dunk did not hesitate to grab a handfull of throttle when he thought he could teach more by example

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:43 PM
The riders would switch lines and practice passing and taking new lines....a good trick to master!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:44 PM
Dunk was going to try and show everyone what a good block pass looked like, but Kevin was a bit to fast for him on the first run

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:45 PM
The second run was better, but showed what getting slammed by a Pro looks like:eek:

Kevin suffered a twisted steering stem :p

JParisi48
07-21-2009, 08:46 PM
haha dunk was like what is this amatuer doing showin me up, then slammed him lol

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:46 PM
The last hour of the day was a free ride session for everyone who had enough energy to rip it up!

Pappy
07-21-2009, 08:47 PM

Thats about all for day 2. Daylight comes early and we will be back out there ripping it up!

I will leave you with a shot of Cody nailing the bleacher jump. Dustin Wimmer will be onhand tomorrow for some riding instruction so we all look forward to seeing him in action once again!

my brother in law used to go up there all the time... but now he has 2 kids..(23 and 4 months) but me, him and my nephew are gonna come up and check it out this summer!!!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:02 PM
Today started the same as the others, but Dustin Wimmer would be on hand to offer his advice to anyone wanting to hear what the #1 rider in the land had to say!!!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:07 PM
Dunk and Wimmer would work as a team today and use different sections of the track to work with the riders. Getting boots on the ground to check out the track allowed some advice to be given and answers to questions handed out.

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:17 PM
The two Pro's would put in a few laps to give everyone a show before the days work would begin

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:24 PM
The riders were given a sight lap and then spent about 30 minutes riding with the Pro's

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:28 PM
Kevin was back in action after his repairs:p Dunk is going to autograph his stem for the shop wall:p

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:32 PM
For many of the riders, getting a chance to hang out and ride with the Pro's made the entire camp a success

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:37 PM
Dunk saw me high up on a jump so he decided to work in close!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:39 PM
Dunk is one of my favorite riders to shoot...and I have shot him for so long I kinda of know what he is going to do. That makes for cool shots:D

Is Dunk's YFZ stock in these pics by chance???

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:43 PM
The guys had some fun before getting down to business. The speeds they obtain and how they make an ATV do the things they do is just poetry in motion

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:46 PM
The free-ride time over, it was time to start training.

This rider arrived monday morning and had never been on a MX track. He could barely go over a jump with out stalling it. He was sent to work with the beginers and here he was today on the Advanced track getting tips and instruction from the AMA's #1 plate holder, Dustin Wimmer.

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:50 PM

Yes, for the most part. His race quad's suspension was sent out tuesday to be serviced and will be awaiting him on the west coast for this weekends race.

Dunk was at the begining section of the track and Dustin was here. Both watching and then giving instruction as they worked cornering non stop, proving how important it is in racing. Yes thats a mini quad.....noone was going to be denied the chance to be schooled by the Pro's!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 08:57 PM
Cody is all ears as Dustin tells him where he wants him entering the corner and at what speed.

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:01 PM
There wasn't any excuses, even on a quad that was stock width. The rider was going to learn how to do it regardless! In a few laps, Cody had the turn down and was zipping in and out of it way faster then he had just a day prior. What Dunk had been teaching and what Wimmer was reaffirming was starting to show itself!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:03 PM
Once Dunk and Wimmer were satisfied, the riders were paired up and drilled to race each other over two jumps and 3 turns

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:05 PM
For many, this would be the first time they ever jumped side by side....and at speeds alot faster then they thought they could!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:08 PM
Corner exit speeds meant better runs at the jump and the pass!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:10 PM
The youngest rider and the newest rider were learning, and it was great to see it!!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:13 PM
It started getting hairy as the riders began pushing it. Cody (on the outside) wasn't giving an inch as they hit the take off. Unfortunatley, that side of the lip kicks you funny:eek:

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:14 PM
I could see he was way out of shape and heading to the downside and the berm that awaited him as he drifted to his left:scary:

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:16 PM
I was cringing at the thought of this wreck and this was the last thing I saw as my shutter closed and opened:(

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:17 PM
I couldnt see what was going on....but from Dunks body language it was hairy from his perspective:p

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:19 PM
A lot of throttle, a limp body and alot of luck had him dart out the other side still battling for the lead:D THANK YOU GOD!!!:D

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:26 PM
It was hot for sure, but the sun stayed hidden for the most part today. Water breaks were ample and I dont recall ever having to wait on a cooler full of ice cold H2O! Dan and his crew were doing as they usually do and looked after thier riders non stop.

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:28 PM
Wimmer rides off to make a run at the straight-away and corner as most of the group gets in close for a good look at how the master gets it done!

Pappy
07-22-2009, 09:47 PM
The riding and instruction lasted most of the day and by 4pm, everyone was looking a bit worked:p Everyone had put in a good days effort and they had an hour of free time to rip it up before dinner.

Pappy
07-22-2009, 10:10 PM
That about wraps up day 3 here at Dream Camp. An hour of free ride time followed the afternoon session and a killer dinner was served up for everyone!

Cody's day ended about 10 minutes before everyone else's as he broke all 4 sprocket bolts:p

Tune in for the final day of Dream camp here at Breezewood Proving Grounds tomorrow night!

Nice! The camp looks like a total blast and makes me really want to go sometime. Do you know how much it is for a class?

Pappy
07-23-2009, 04:22 PM
I think it was $1000 for the week, which included everything from meals/drinks to most maintence (free oil changes, filter services etc)

Today was day 4 , the final day. I missed it for the most part:( On the way there this morning I had two right side tires go flat on teh way there after running something over:ermm: By the time we got them up and to a tire store....and having to go ahead and replace all 4 tires we were there just at the tail end of the awards ceremonies.

I am sure alot of the folks that attended will be posting and we should see some new members signing up and I they can share thier expierences!

Pappy
07-23-2009, 04:53 PM
The track did see some heavy rain today , but everyone from the camp was packed up or ready to roll out so I am sure Dan thanked the water gods for filling up his pond:p

There were regular riders moving in as the weekend gets geared up. The track is usually closed on Tuesday and Wednesdays for down time for Dan and Amanda:p

I think this kid was trying to catch gnats with his tongue:p

Cody did not have time to repair his quad and had planned on watching todays events then riding his bike. He ended up standing on teh side of the road with me:p

He rode all afternoon however and was picking up on most of the doubles.

Pappy

And thats it from us!

Folks, we have a track owner that LOVES quads....support them! This place makes an awesome vaction or day trip and all the jumps are doable or can be quickly learned. Next seasons training camps are already being discussed and Dunk and Wimmer have already stated they want to come back and work with you guys!

We will continue to support BPG and thier efforts to give us all a great place to ride and hang out and we hope you give them a shot one weekend to see it for yourself!

Thanks Dan and Amanda, another great time and we will see you all soon!

A big thanks to Dunk who let it all hang out here at the park for everyone attending camp!!!! Jason is the friendliest most down to earth person, I can't say enough how awesome it was to have him here at Dream Camp!! Everyone attending got a chance to hang out, ride, eat and live a dream motocross week with some awesome people. All the riders left with signed shirts or hats and posters from both Dunk and Wimmer. Thanks to Both of them for making this a lifetime memory for all of us.

Another huge thanks goes out to Eric Lester at ELITE ATV www.eliteatv.com for donating all the great give away items. Eric and a slew of other volunteers spent several hours everyday helping riders maintain and fix any problems with their machines. BPG provided oil, chain lube, filter cleaner and filter oil to all the riders attending camp, while Kh426, Eric Lester, Gus the chicken man from NYC, Dan R. and provided the labor and know how.

I am good friends with Gus.. He called me and was raving on how good of a time he had this week. Oh and you should have Gus and debbie make some prime rib for you. that was great also. Gus and debbie can cook and are great people. and so is Dan and his wife. I had a great time up there last year and will be bringing people up there from florida next year.

Welcome to ATVriders Brian (from Gus' friend Jon in NC).

Pappy, thanks again for the pics. I am looking forward to getting some video that Deb took too. Gus tells me he got to spend some time on the tracks with Dunk and Wimmer. He was so excited that Dunk took some laps on his new 2006 450r rebuild (sweet quad).

I was just giving Dan time to work out the kinks. :p Dream Camp 2010 is definitely going to be a vacation week for me!

Dream Camp 2009 had 30 riders attending.

I haven't nailed down the dates yet, but I plan on having 3 Dream Camps for 2010. We will have one specifically for quads, one for bikes and a fun camp for bikes and quads together.

Dates have been settled for Dream Camp 2010 ! We have 2x AMA Pro Class Winner Dustin Wimmer returning for 3 days of trainging at Dream Camp 2010 - quad Week. In addition to Dustin we also have Pro Racer Jason Dunkelberger returning for 3 days of training. Added this year is Pro Atv Racer John Natalie Jr. who will be on hand training riders for 3 days.

Our first Dream Camp of 2010 is our "QUAD WEEK" July 19th-20th-21st- and 22nd. 4 days and 3 nights of MX training for serious quad riders and racers.

Dream Camp II is "Bike Week" August 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th. We have pro bike race Ash Woskob returning for 3 days of training, along with Trainer Mark Howsare. Other Pro riders to be added.

Dream Camp III is "Ride Week" for both bikes and quads ! We are working with Derek and Jon Gueter who will be here to do a freestyle show and freestlye training to the quad riders. We have an overnite trail riding trip planned, along with a trail ride to a bass pond for fishing. This is going to be a great camp to learn all types of riding. August 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th.

For a full schedule of the camp and a registration form email me at Breezewoodprovinggrounds@yahoo.com
