525 Xc

Currently ride a Can Am DS650X (2007) and I am considering buying a KTM 525XC. How is the ergonomic comfort of a 525? The reason I ask is that the 650 is a big and comfortable machine and I just would like to keep that comfort level. I know the KTM will perform well, just want to get opinions on how comfortable the machine is. I am 6'4" and 235 Pds.

I was about your size before I got married but the lil lady beat me down to about 5'4 and 150#'s. I have owned a DS650 since then and now I ride a KTm 525. The ergonomics are great on the KTM but I dont think it will be as comfortable for a big guy compared to the DS650. I think ergonomically the Renegade or 700XX would be a better fit for a guy over 6'2. The seat height is pretty high on the 525 but it has a low center of gravity and the footpeg to seat height ratio is more suited for a medium sized rider. Go sit on one at the dealer and see what you think. The power is unbeleivable. I found the shocks to be valved for a bigger person, which would benefit you. I think the DS650 is more of a Cadillac ride. You can always have RocketRon or another shock rebuilder set the shocks up so they ride like the DS650 does.

I'm 6'1" 240..can feel a little short sometimes, but overall it is a really fun bike to ride. The susp makes it a LOT more comfortable to ride than my old KFX400. I feel 500% better after long rides on the KTM. You feel more hunched over and in attack mode on the KTM than the other cruizer bikes, but the smile factor makes up for it.
