Question about decompression plunger

How important really is this? Can I get away without running it with the stock cam, as I notice that aftermarket cams dont' even have a provision for it at all. Just wondering.

i was thinking the same thing but cuz mines alredy apart ime just gonna get a hotcams resonably cheap and i here it opens things up plus my valves are bad so i guess wouldnt be a bad time for a cam

I ask cause I lost the plunger somewhere, still can't find it. I could care less if my engine cranks a little harder than normal.

I guess I would have to remove the mechanism off the cam as well, to eliminate any top end noise from it flopping around.
