pull the valve cover and then take out the two bolts holding the cam sprocket/gear on that should allow you to take the chain off, and then do in reverse to put back on.

Don't worry about valve timing while taking it apart. Take the cam gear off and tie the chain up with a piece of wire or small bungie while you finish disassembly. It can be a PITA to fish the chain out of the bottom of the case, so be careful to not let it drop. There is no way to get the valve timing 180 degrees out from ignition timing when assembling, so don't worry about any of that. If the crank moves while you're working on it, it's okay. During assembly, you'll just have to line the flywheel mark back up with the "T" mark and then install the cam with the lobes down and the two lines on the cam gear horizontal with the gasket surface and the third line pointing up.

edit -- Just realized you said "bike". Probably different, but basically the same. Buy a manual or Google it for your application.

it should be exactly the same, i did an 03 crf motor recently and it was the same old routine

Some models require you to pull the motor to get to the cylinder. What kind of bike is it???

like he said, your probably going to have to pull the motor out of the frame, which isn't very hard. what year make model is the bike?

i believe you do, and don't worry about it its just a few bolts and a quick lift and shes out. shouldn't take more then 5-10 min to get it out of the frame.
