here my idea... theres a cheap roller by me... its a early yeared 300ex all it needs is a motor... but i thought i would put a 06 or newer crf250 in it and mod it all up and make it all custom and make it one of a kind... i cracked the cased on the dumbest spot on my 250r and im just gonna put it in a corner for a while becuase its just drivin me up a wall... but i thought that this would be a good project and it would mix it up... i would just put a 300ex motor in it but by the time i do that and get it built i still wont have the power i would like and have way too much money in to it... theres a kid some where on here that took my first idea and put a yzf250 in a blaster... so i thought i would do it in the honda...

I could be wrong but I thought you could do those mods in the worcs and quadcross series but not in the atva or neatv series.

250f's are 28/29 hp stock right outta the box, 300ex's stock are 18? and a built 300ex is upwards of around 32-38hp. but a well built 250f is capaple of 40+ easy and would dominate most any other quad out there because of the light weight of it.

If you took your 250r frame which is already light, then used a 250f motor. that would be a dominating frame/motor combo.;)

i know the 250'fs would have alot more power over a 300ex... but im not sure what im going to do yet... you said that 300cc was the max so how can you build a 300ex up much more... i know its not a true 300 from the factory but its rather close isnt it?

it comes 282cc from the factory with a 74mm bore which you can go to 297cc with 76mm bore which i think is .80 over?
sparks racing sells a good 14:1 piston so you get great power outta that

also if you get a good port and polish, cam, hardened rockers, pipe, and filter they give pretty good power.

the 250f is going to faster for mainly two reasons A. its liquid cooled. B. has anyone ever noticed but until recently company also put alot more effort int the dirtbikes. well they do and they make they 250f ****ing rip.

what series you plan on racing?

make sure to check rules on the series for a few things like hybrids and/or modifications to the frame. some series its bolt on only which means that you gunna have alot of trouble mounting that 250f up. thats even if the rules allow hybrids

also if you got the money (11,000)and you really want a 250f i would give Apex atvs a call about the apex mxr 250f. this would dominate the 300 class stock

the apex mxr 250 is a apex frame with a yamaha yz250f engine in it and it comes that way from the factory which technically its not a hybrid im pretty sure and also i think they would only make one on the order so you would have to call and talk to them about it

its considered a hybrid still, it is not a production model. which makes it a hybrid, still illegal in most all 300 classes because they are production ONLY.

as far as the reason the 250f's rip. theres a list about 40 miles along. including the close ratio trannys , factory balanced cranked, 5 valve heads, huge ports and titanium valves just to name a few, the 250f's were built to rip, and are built to hold up to the abuse, 300's were never built for this, thats why they are only capable of so much horsepower, if you had the money, a 250f would probably be capable of a 450 style horsepower but it would run like a 2 stroke and be incredably peaky because of crank/piston/tranny/head design. but the 250f's are incredably more durable and capable of prolly 2 times the horsepower with a good engine builder. a built 300ex to national level compared to a 250f hybrid built to national level, the 300 would get dominated all day long, its heavy and low on horsepower compared to a 250f thats light, peaky and fast.

overall, build a good 250f, you won't be dissapointed:chinese:

I know the young man who races the APEX in the worcs series. I have alot of pics of him racing it and may even some glimpes of video.
Fast young man and the quad is fast.

Not too many kids running the 85 motors this year here ...looks like alot of the kids are now racing Hybrids with 125 and 250 motors in there JB's. We have classes for them on our series as well.
