I have the top end apart and my valves have a crap load of carbon all over them and i want to remove them and replace the valve seals. How do I get them off with the springs holding them back. Also what would be the best method for cleaning the carbon off the valve heads. Please let me know thanks Mike. I think i have to compress the springs but not sure what is needed to do that.

Valve spring compressor. I just use scotch brite pads to clean the carbon off mine. You will also want to get a valve lapping tool and lapping compound to reseat your valves before putting them back in.

I used a socket with a extension on it for leverage. This is not the easy way. They come of easy, puting them back on not so easy. If I had valve spring compressor I would have used it.
