well you guys i may very well soon be a regular part of this forum because a freind of mine has his 2007 400ex for sale and im seriously thinking about ditching my 250 for the 400

my questions are:
how bad are maintinence on these things?
i know its not as bad as a 450 but then again im used to having my 250 seviced once a year and then forgeting about it

also, is there anything else that i should be warned about, or any tips/pointers with these quads

anyway, here is a pic, i will probably end up getting it for about 3k

yeah im still hunting craigslist

the only reason im interested in this one is becuase i know the guy and can probably talk him down some and it was only rode by his daughter, so i know it wasnt abused

It sounds like you have an impression that these may be maintenance hogs. I would tend to think that the 400ex is probably the most bullet proof bike on the planet. It's never the fastest or quickest bike, but it will be your favorite trail bike that you will ever own.

i know there not ungodly hard to maintain, i was just trying to get an idea of what it did take becuase im not used to hardly any maintinence

well mine doesnt require lots of maintenance but i give it that extra maintenance anyways :D
just change the oil and clean the airfilter every now and then and your golden man.

i hear ya, ive been trying to use reverse not as much since a 450 is on the way. but man i usuallly have to use it, some of these trails are hardly wide enough for my +2 front end to fit through.

come ride trails around here, there is rarely a place to throttle out.
