alright, i'm going to start throwing money into my 04 450r motor hoping it will be good to ride by the end of this summer.

i'm planning on a 13.5:1 piston, stage two hotcams, port and polished head, getting a new cam chain and having it coated, getting new valves, and any bearings that may be worn, is there anything else i should look into? i want this motor to last until the end of next summer but that usually won't happen with my luck

thanks

I wouldn't worry about coating your timing chain. Those need to be replaced often anyway. Everything else looks good. Just remember that valves will need to be adjusted more often with any higher lift cam. If you ride it often, you may have to replace the rings before next summer.

Also have your valve seats cut before you put your new valves in. The seats wear out just as fast as the valves. If you don't, you will be loosing compression in the seat, and the new valves will wear quicker.

I just noticed you didn't mention exhaust. Does it already have an exhaust?

should i do anything to the clutch...it's all stock, should i just leave it go or should i change it out?

i was once told the stock clutch basket is junk in the 450's but i don't know if this is true
