I've searched a bit on this and can't find a definitive answer, so that's why I'm asking.
On the front sprockets to our 'wheelers, there's a flat side and a side with a raised boss. Does the boss face in towards the engine to act as an alignment spacer? Reason I ask is when I replaced my chain and sprockets, I found mine to be the opposite way- and I see light chain wear against the case. Mounting the front sprocket with the boss inwards would theoretically move the chain approx. 1/8" or so away from the motor, and hopefully eliminating this.
Come to think of it, I also noticed crazy wear on one side of the old sprocket, which would also indicate uneven wear- possibly from improper installation.
