does the clearcoat in a spray can work good on polished aluminum and polished steel parts? i just picked up some from home depot and was hoping i could just put it on and have no more water spots or oxidation.

It'll work, but you will lose a little of the shine.

I know this is getting a little much but if you find a autobody supply you can get some decent clears in a can and these you can later fine sand with (1500-2500 grit) and buff to shine also.
If time allows I intend on testing out some stuff like this to see how well it works out.
