Ok i need to know will a XR400 Engine bolt up to a 400ex frame and how do I go about doing this. What do you do about the kick start kicking backwards? I know there is a thread for this but I can not find it. Please dont redirect me to a differnt thread, if you could just let me know that would be great.
Thanks for your help

the xr will fit but it either has to be converted to electric or you can cut out the fender. you may also be able to get an old 250x kicker or something to work. i am not sure on that. Otherwise everything else with work. steve

im not really sure how much taller it is but i am sure you could get it close with a 14 and a 39 to what the ex motor is stock with just the 14 on the front. i am curious too. steve

Engine mounts are different.

Why would you want a xr engine anyway?

Slighty higher compression, slightly more aggressive cam, lighter flywheel, and kick start.

I dont believe its a direct bolt up application.

from what you described in that post it would be cheaper to do it to your motor if its good. unless you have an xr400 engine laying around

how much $$$ were you really planning on spending to do this if you do it?
