I just bought a sb600 it comes tomorrow. I read on how to set it up in commander mode. But I dont know much about using a flash. Got any advice for me? Or links to some good articles about flash photography. I want to be able to get some shots like this. What was your setup when u shot this? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3321/3662792579_830578d28e_o.jpg

I'd check out this sight... A lot of reading, and mainly off-camera oriented, but you can certainly learn a lot.

Also... nikoncafe.com is a great place to learn about everything nikon related!

True... But it also depends on what body you have. My D200 can control it... Not sure on others though.

If your flash is set to Commander mode, it is set up to control other flashes:p You can set the other flashes output through it. The sb-600 doesnt offer a commander mode but can be used as a slave or controlled by an sb-800/900 or the su-800 commander

I have an extra SU-800 commander if anyone needs one. $125 shipped

Ok I see what your saying now... And I thought the SB-600 could be a commander, but I guess I was thinking it could be triggered wirelessly. :o

Good price on the SU though... Maybe if you have an SB-600 or 800 for a good price too i'd take one off your hands.:p

The sb-600 can be triggered using the Nikon CLS system(Mode Manual, Hold down the mode and on/off button....select SU-4. Pop up your on camera flash and your wireless.

I have a sb600, its been run over and works but i wouldnt sell it knowing its been through hell and back. When there is a chance my gear is going to get wiped out, its my go to flash:p

Thanks for the help guys. I have a d80 how do I set it to AA FP mode? I figured out how to set it to fp but not AA. I read somewhere that the sb600 dosent support that. Maybe im talking about the wrong AA. The only AA I see is in the commander menu.

RTFM:eek:

Ill have to dig mine out, just leave the flash in TTL and remeber, you can adjust its power out put so dont always rely on the settings it chooses!
