Hey guys I'm brand new to the board and brand new to 400ex's. I just picked one up yesterday that needs a little love and trying to learn a little bit about them. Well my question is this, I have a 2004 and I found a frame from a 2002 locally for $100. First off is that about right for the price, secondly is there any difference in frames from year to year or are they all pretty much the same? Mine does not have a title nor does the other frame so I'm not so worried about that. The reason I was thinking of the swap was that I do powder coating and rather than have the bike tore down for a while to powder the frame I thought I would buy another powder it and then swap everything on to it. Thanks for the help guys.

They're the same. I believe there may be subtle differences in body mounts on the '05 on up due to the different plastics, but other than that, they're all the same.

$100 sounds cheap. Make sure it's in good shape.

just a fyi check around the upper shock mounts for paint chipping/ cracked frame there and by the foot pegs are where they are known to brake. thats a good deal for the frame esp if you get the sub frame to.
