I ride a 400ex and I've been riding nothing but tracks. So I've been looking for 450s lately. Well this guy is willing to trade for my quad and 600 bucks. We both keep our wheels. Problem is I'd have to borrow 600 bucks to pay him so you think its worth it?

heres the 450r, dont worry I'll be removing the shock covers and so on..

Im mainly worried about the stock shocks on the 450r. Dunno if the rear likes to buck you off or not. I've never ridden on stock 450r shocks.

Wow two very nice clean quads. Is up to you. You say you ride only tracks. The 450 is a track bike. You will have the power when you need it. Alot of the riders prefer the 04-05 transmissions over the 06-09 450r's. What year is the 450? 04 or 05?
Is your 400ex frontend long travel? Cuz i see in your tag it says houser pep. Does the 450r have an aftermarket axle on it? It looks like it does. The rear end on the 450 is good but it dont take much to fix the "bucking" as you already know about. Get a gt thunder link and this will cure it immediately. I would do the trade, 450ies are the ticket. But make sure you have someone or if you can tell by yourself, check over the quad and the engine. Do a compression test. Make sure the engine is good and the isnt gonna start needing a bunch of stuff. If you are ready to jump up to a 450 then go for it. Try to knock him down on the price a little if the 450. It wont hurt to try

Oh from the way the angle of the picture of your 400ex, it looks like to me, that your shock ressies look like Red Bull 8once cans. Dont it look like it though? I know they arent but it lokks like it. Good luck!

haha, they are red bull cans. I wrapped them around my rezzies.

Anyway both quads have a g-force axle and no, the 400 is not long travel. My 400 has a pep dual rate rear shock. Which is why I was worried about the stock 450 rear. So all you need is a gt thunder mx link?

and the 450 is an 05 and claims there's only 30-40 hours on it.
Which is believable, I see no wear marks on the frame or case covers.

I knew those were red bull cans or stickers. I drink redbull by the gallon daily and i was craving one after i seen the picture of your quad. Ha ha. But ya since you will be trading and keeping your tires, go get the gt thinder mx link. It is specially made for the 18 inch tires.
Ya it looks like the guy barely rode it. I noticed there are hardly any rub marks. But be warned, the 04-05 had weak cranks and need to be beplaced. Not right away buy do it beore it goes out. I have a customer that has an 04 that still has the original crank in it and he rides every weekend since he got it new. So not all of them are bad. I would definitely trade for what you do and you will be so much happier with it. Still try to get him to knock some off the cash it you can ;) But its a very clean and well taken care of 450r. You dont find too many that clean. But they can be a never ending money trap if you love to put mods on them. Here is mine before the flexx bars and quad tech hood. I love it and cant stop putting money into it.
