He won't see that kind of money for it. (Maybe in 10 years or more) Those motors aren't that rare, they pop up on Ebay every once in a while. Hell, I have one sitting in a box in my closet.

Yea, I figured he wouldn't get what he's asking, but its just nice to see one out there like that. For what he's trying to get for that, I'd spend my money on a whole quad......and prob. a nice built one!!

You would be surprised what a collector will spend for authenticity. If you don't know what I mean, just ask Mike Palmgren or the Honda Collection Hall (Japan).

These types of things do pop up once in a while. Memories of when the government "stepped in" and helped us out once again... Long live the third wheel.

I have a never ran 85 bottom end, they pop up more than most think. Some years back East Coast atv was blowing out 85 and 86 350x motor. They can't be all too hard to find. 250r and 350x motors aren't that hard to find, a never ran 83-87 200x, 185-200s/es and air-cooled 250r is a rare one.

They did the same thing with 85-86 250R motors too.

What do you know about this Honda collection hall (japan)?

I heard from a reliable source that honda didn't even have a brand new 250R in their collection that all they had was a couple of slightly used (for photo ops and tests in the desert) 250R's that weren't restored.

I'm betting if he is the original owner of that motor that he picked it up for less than $500.
