Hey guys.....I have seemed to have lost some power. I really don't know how. What size jet should I be running? What is the difference between a pilot jet and a main jet? Also, what notch should I have my E-clip on. All my mods are listed below, only thing different is a hotter plug. Could this have anything to do with it? Oh ya I am running the 170 jet now.

#40 pilot jet, #155-158 main jet--- Look in EXTECH for carb info.

155-158 seems a little low for a pipe and no airbox lid.

Ya I think the same.....If I would need to go down I don't think I should have to go any lower than 165....What do you think? Also, where is the pilot jet located? How do I go about changeing it? Thanks.

If you live between 0-3500 feet, a 40pj and a 155 or 158 main jet will hit the 'sweet spot'. Anything more than a 158 and you will start losing significant amounts of power and top end performance. Experiment with both the 155 and 158 and see which runs better. Also, go back to the stock heat range plug.

BTW--If you live at a higher elevation you will need to go leaner than what is suggested above.

Good Luck

WB recommends a #155 main. Try a #155 and a #158. It usually helps to put the needle clip down one notch ( ie. move from second notch from top to third notch) also.

Are you guys sure that I need to go that low on my main. I have been running 170........That ran fine but now I think that I have lost a little power. I put the 165 in today but have yet to try iy out. I never did anything with the pilot jet......Never really new about it or even where it is located.....Do I need to change it? Also how mony turns out on your mixture screw are you guys goin?

You have to remove the carb and float bowl to change the pilot jet. Stepping up one size will give you better throttle response and off idle power, lowering the clip on the needle will have the same effect. Set your mixture screw at 2- 2 1/4 turns. A main jet in the 155-158 range would not be too low, it will probably be spot on.

BTW--If you decide to change your pilot jet go with a #40, it will look a bit different than the stocker....that's normal.

Good Luck!!

if its not to much could you scan a 40 so I can compare it? I picked one up from my local bike shop but it is now way near what my stocker looks like. This thing dosn't even have emulsion holes on the sides below the bevel.
