250r LRD pipe question???

Could someone please tell me why all of the pros and a lot of pro am riders cut off the stinger on the LRD silencer? they leave just a little stinger like the sparks silencer, does it make it sound more like a sparks? just curious, ive seen it on jeremiah's new quad and all the nac's Rs had them like that during the 2001 season, any replies thanks

are you talkin about the pieace at the end of the silencer? it loops down and points to the ground?

if thats what your talkin about. mabe they "cut it off" so they get direct airflow. mabe just to increase the airflow that much more?

Yea thas what i thought, direct air flow, but i was wondering if it made it sound a little different too, just seems like it would sound a little snappier because of the shorter end.

i think lrd made that to keep fumes out of the riders face behind the quad. who knows. pro's wont cut it off "just for sound"
it probly adds the slightest power increase...
