I saw this for a great price and was wondering if these would be an ok inexpensive top end rebuild. Also is there anything missing from that to consider it a top end rebuild. When someone says they converted there 400ex to a 426 or 440 what size piston would you consider that would have a slight increase in power over the stock one. What size piston is a 426 upgrade. Please shed some light on this thanks Mike

Neither link works.

General consensus is that the 416 kit gives the best performance to reliability ratio. This would be an 87mm piston.

85-stock
86-406
87-416
88-426

Also, stick with a name brand like JE or Wiesco... and 11:1 or less unless you want to have to run race gas.

If it were me, I'd get a JE 10.8:1 87mm kit. :)

The third link works, but since I've never heard of the manufacturer I would shy away from it. Don't skimp on internals.

The JE 10.8:1 416 kit is my recommendation and what I plan to do in the future.

That is a top-end rebuild kit, and thats an awesome price. Namura makes good two-stroke pistons, but i don't know about their four strokes. Their pistons have ceramic coated skirts, which not many companies do. .20 over will make it a 402. And you won't have to run race gas with a 11:1, i run 93 octane in mine. I say buy the kit

That doesn't look bad to me...

I think I would do it for the price...

The question would I guess be...

Is that small of an over-bore going to be enough for a rebuild???????

i just bought that same kit a while ago, yea yea i know i shouldnt go cheap on internals, but Namura is a name brand and ive heard good things now only time will tell if they are true or not.

looks pretty decent to me, that is a full top end rebuild. geta nice cam and you would be good to go. i did not check out the compression on it though. .5 mm is not much to bore either. if it is scored really bad they will not come out with that amount of a bore. on the otherhand just to make sure it will be good to go and get a refresh it is awesome. i would do it. next rebuild i do will be a 416 oversize ring like that. steve

namura is good stuff, i wanted to buy their piston, but it wasnt made with the relocated pin like i had needed or at least i couldnt find it anywhere, so i went with a j-e made to lrd specs, then had it coated.

i spent way more than that for just my piston lol
