They'll all say the same thing, there's been numerous threads on these little crap boxes.

What you should look into is the monster coil. It does more then the cdi because it's the actual coil that goes to the spark plug. Everyone on here that has bought one loved it.

I vote Sparks. Right to the point and does its job it only increase the rev limiter 1000RPM no dumb little timing advances or tricks and gimmicks.

But what do you NEED that for? He's not running a lightened flywheel, aggressive cam, and porting. He will NEVER need that extra rpm. You shouldn't be hitting the rev limiter on a 400ex as it is.

DMC hit the nail on the head. The stock CDI/AMR monster coil is the perfect combo.

CDI's are a waste, even on modded motors IMO. I rarely hit the rev limiter on the stock CDI and my engine is about as modified as they come.

Just over a year ago I installed an aftermarket CDI, removed it a couple weeks later and put the stocker back on.

I repeat, aftermarket CDI's are crap, don't waste your money.

It increases spark energy and coil energy recovery time. The coil is nothing more than a capacitor, the AMR piece is better than stock. I noticed slightly better throttle response and a smoother idle.
