imo it looks like crap. whats the purpose of it other than a wasted quad and wasted money and wasted engine? the only use that thing would possibly have is maybe dunes, and straight line drag racing. THATS JUST A WASTE

i wonder how it actually handles? looks like they stretched the frame, so i'm figuring the geometry sucks. and bet those shocks aren't valved for that kind of weight..

actually if you go read the thread the owner did a week ride on the hatfield mccoy trails with it and it did just fine, he wants to take a trip to the dunes but the quad was mainly built for the purpose of running from sand bar to sand bar on the ice during the winter

a local kid does a lot of conversion's like that. His two big ones are an R6 motor in a blaster and an R1 in a raptor. Last time I saw him he was working on a 954rr in a scrambler, but that 1000rr would be down right nasty!

I call B.S. lol If some guy was campin' with you and tossed you the keys to an R6 powered blaster I'd be willing to bet you took it for a ride. Whether you had the balls to punch it or not I don't know. :uhoh:

haha it's pretty scary. It's slightly extended (+3) but it's still a blaster. I must say he does some pretty clean conversions too.

just ordered a 14 tooth sprocket for the frot but right now its stock and the rear is a 38 upgraded to a 530 chain, and one really strong skid plate, i had it dynoed on a 4-wheeler dyno it shut the dyno down at 110 mph at 6700 rpm in 4th gear. the dyno said the "speed rating has been exceeded". lol

thats what i found on that website posted by the owner, 110 in fourth when the dyno topped out, looks like its good for 140ish

Funny... you hate the damn things but your name has "blastr" in it. :p

But for real, I loved my blaster. Sure I crashed many many times on it, lol, but it was a great quad.

Very nice conversion! That would be a blast out west here in the dunes!! Perfect Dune Quad. My goal is to put a GSXR750 motor in my DS when my motor get old and tired.

why waste a good motor on a DS? put it in the Z!!!

Are you kidding me?

The DS650's are PERFECT for streetbike conversions. The chassis is big enough where the engine looks like if fits perfectly and was meant to be, and it's strong enough/big enough to make use of the power.

Screw the Z frame.

There's some videos on youtube of a DS with a turbo. Pretty wicked and probably easier to do than swap a streetbike motor in.

Those DS's look like they make great dune bikes. They're big, torquey, and have real nice suspension with pretty long travel.

I remember when I first rode one... they ride amazing.

thats one crazy ride looks real clean and looks like it came out of the box like that. i hope suspension is upgraded. a friend of modded his yfz for akawi zx 636 shes had er goin 90mph on the ice last winter with snowmobile studs

HI guys, been awile since ive been on here, New updates to bike it, now has a plus 6 swinger ladder bar design, and a power commander;) also got a chance to take to silver lake dunes in michigan, suspension set up is not that bad, but i would like find some plus 2 or 3 a-arms.

09-13-2009, 09:22 PM
I think it looks straight up wicked! From that picture, it also looks pretty well put together. This takes the saying "too much power is never enough" and flushes it right down the crapper.

Hell, the ZX10 bike I had would do 106mph in 1st gear and would EFFORTLESSLY roll on a wheelie in 2nd gear around 8-10k weather you wanted it to or not....I can only imagine what it's like to have that power in a quad. Not that much weight difference, but the gearing plus 170+/- crank hp would make that front end 100x lighter than it already is!

sportraxkid
09-14-2009, 01:08 AM
Thats a badass bike, if your going to do any duning I would get a longer swingarm it makes a huge difference on these bikes.
