400 wont turn over [Archive] - ATV Riders Forum

allright so i just bought a new 400 for 400 bucks and it wont turn over, the guy said it just stoped one day when he was riding it... any hints on what it could be, i plan on tearin it down sometime this week but help would be apprietiated... thanks

it locked up when the guy was rining it, now it wont turn over or anything

I had a blaster do that ones. piece broke off the rod and went up the side wall. Took whole new rod, piston, rings, gasket kit and a bore to get it to runing good agian.

mine did the same thing, i would take the right side cover off (as if you were sitting on the quad) and check all of that first, in mine i had a nut come loose and back itself off, it backed off the main shaft and pressed itself betwene the case and the shaft causing the motor to seize basically, i crapped my pants cause i thought it was a piston failure or something cause i could barely get the engine to turn over at all, it would turn over on the intake and exhaust stroke but would stop dead when it hit compression
