I've been checking craigslist to find a decent cheap mini for my daughter who turns 6 on Friday. My 4-yo son will probably be on it as well.

Are these decent?-http://raleigh.craigslist.org/rvs/1218329906.html

This 110 seems too big for them at this stage. They've been on the battery powerwheels 4wheeler for a while, so they've got the idea, just ready for the next step.

Too big?- http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mcy/1213013229.html

Look for a used e-ton, Kasea, DRR, ect..... something you can get parts for.

IMO::
A few will tell you all about the good luck they had with their china junk.
More will tell you about how bad their kids feel cuz daddy has to constantly fix their machine to ride or how bad the dad feels cuz the kids can't ride.

Your kid can ride, or you can wrench. The choice is yours.

Go name brand. You and the rider(s) will be much happier. :)

LT80 IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK. WE HAVE A LTZ90 FOR YARD FUN AND JUST SEAT TIME IT WAS HIS FIRST RIDE. THEN FOR RACE WE GOT A DRR. ALL THIS IS JUST OPINION STUDY UP ON ALL BRANDS NEW STUFF COMES OUT ALL THE TIME.

I agree with the last post. My kid had a Kazuma Meerkat 50 that we kept for 2 months before we sent it down the road. Get a Can-Am, Eton, Arctic Cat or Polaris 50ccsay 2002-2005 2 stroke and you wont be disappointed. They are virtually indestructible, simple to work on if you have to, and parts are easy to find. They all interchange. When they are ready then you can move towards a DRR or Apex for racing.

We started all 3 of our kids at that age on LT50s because the controls fit their hand the best. Those quads are great to learn on but once they advance their skills and get bigger you'll want something with a CVT or shifter.

I agree with everyone else. The China imported atvs are hard to get parts for and hard to work on. Alot of the sales people selling these will tell you that they have the same drivetrain as Honda, IT IS NOT. We have an Outlaw 90 for my son, he is 10, and we have been happy with it.
Good luck

I ended up getting the "Blast". I just didn't want to sink a bunch of $$$ into something right now. (Ducking for stone throwing) I know what you guys are saying though.

I showed it to an electrician working on our house, and he said he got the same one for his kid 3 years ago new for $1k, and so far no issues for him. He said basic maintenance parts are readily available at the place he bought his.

I got it for $350, figured let the kids get the idea, make sure they're into it, then upgrade later. I should be able to get $350 out of it later I think.

I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes. It looks like the previous Dad kept it up well, it was clean, the fittings were well greased, runs ok so far.

I tweaked it a bit last night to slow it down a little. The brakes were sticking a little, quick fix. I figure that's typical for anything 4 years old.

Kids love it.

Here's a shot of the rear. There's a housing on the left side from the back of the motor to a shaft which drives a chain (right side) to the axle.

I guess this is a belt driven cvt setup.
