well i drove an hour and a half last night and picked up an 03 400ex for my dad so he can ride with me..

the seller said it was a 416, white brothers exhaust etc etc.. we unloaded it and i started it and rode it pretty hard and it didnt make any noises at all.. ran great..

now this morning, me and my dad take off on our 4 wheelers and go ride.. after about 5 minutes of riding we realized the motor had started ticking and its very loud.. it sounds like its in the actual motor and not in either of the cases by your feet..

anyone have any ideas?

sorry for the vague post.. we dont know anything about 4 wheelers yet.. i just got my 07 a month ago brand new and picked this 400 up last night so we don't know anything yet.. any help is appreciated

it def. your valves adjust them at tdc.. and you will be fine..its pretty simple --get some filler gauges and it take bout 2min to do ....i have to adjust mine too later this week before i go riding sat. .. i check mine after every oil change ...if it still ticks very loud after you adjust the valves make sure that you flywheel and your cam gear is on the timing marks.....

Cam chain tensioner. These go bad all the time and make your motor sound like a time bomb. Its easy to pull out, its 2 bolts. Pull that first.
