I really want to learn how to wheelie my quad but I get the wheels about 6 inches from the ground and chicken out!

Does anyone have a step by step on how to wheelie?

or a good video?

if you can start out on a smaller quad, i started doing wheelies on my bro's trx90, i could get it to where the rear grab bar was only an inch off of the ground, way before my first wheelie on my ex. it isn't as hard as it looks, just throttle and lean back.

Back brake is your best friend. If you think your getting to far back tap the back brake and it ill bring you right back down.

Trouble is, its on an LTR450 and the throttle is quick action and very sensative!:blah: :blah:

the faster your going, the easier it is to balance...

You HAVE to go back. You will always be afraid to wheelie without going back at least once.

It's not as bad as you think.

I used to be afraid to a long time ago.. The one time I was in a field in first gear, and was trying to practice. I was too afraid to go back. But by accident I went back, and I was like wow, that's it. It just stops, you step off of the quad, and push it back down.

Now I love to do them:devil: You have to get the fear of going back out of your head. Do it in first gear. Then find your balance point.

I keep my left foot on the peg, and knee on the seat with my right leg, foot in the grab bar.

The only thing you need to think about is the point that if you go back to far your grab bar hits and you stop. You don't get hurt, you just stop. Now go practice! The only problem with starting out with doing a wheelie with (one foot in the grab bar, and one on your rear brake) is that its to easy and you will be to comfortable, and will be content that your wheeling is AWESOME and wont try other types of wheelies.
Start by doing your wheelies from a seated position. If you come up to far, you just let go and slide off the back hit the ground get back up and try again.

First thing you have to do is you have to fall backwards onto the grab bar. It will only makes things easier. After that its all about the back brake.

My opinion is don't put your foot in the grab bar... When you're first starting to learn it's easier to do a stand up wheelie than a sit down wheelie. DMC is also right on the money saying you have to go back. Once you do once you're like... that's it? Your quad won't fall on you when you roll back, it will balance on your grab bar and the back wheels. I know a couple guys who bought skid plates and mounted them on their grab bars and dragged @$$ across the pavement throwing sparks.

I prefer sit down's. :p Is there a rule about "making" a helmet?

personaly i learned wheelies sitting down. i used to hate standing on the grab bar or foot pegs to ride them.
