Blountville, TN - Monster Energy Kawasaki's Chad Wienen not only took the win at Unadilla, but also the points lead of the 2009 AMA Pro ATV Motocross Series. Wienen, new to the Kawasaki squad this year, suffered through mechanical troubles in three of the first four motos of the season, and found himself over 50 points behind the series leader after round two. But he's been on the podium ever since, logging three seconds and two victories while early-season leaders Joe Byrd and Dustin Wimmer have struggled. Now in the lead, Wienen travels to Blountville, TN, to take on the pack at round eight of the the ITP/AMA ATV Motocross Championship presented by Parts Unlimited, the Muddy Creek National on June 27-28th. The race also marks ATVA Amateur Racing Round seven.

Byrd and Wimmer's troubles continued at Unadilla. Honda veteran Byrd made a mistake in moto one and dropped from fourth to eventually finish 11th, and he was credited with 17th in moto two after mechanical troubles set in. Amazingly, Wimmer, the defending AMA Pro ATV MX Champion, made up points on Byrd despite riding with a lingering shoulder injury suffered before round four of the tour. Wimmer soldiered on with 10-4 scores for sixth overall at Unadilla. Wienen now leads both, with a nine point lead on Byrd and 19 points on Wimmer.

The event takes place at the Muddy Creek Raceway. Established in the late '70s by the Paul Baskett family, Muddy Creek has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Racer X Illustrated, Motocross Action, Dirt Bike, ATV Sport and Dirt Wheels magazines. The venue is home of the Thor United States Mega Series and the AMA ATV Motocross Championship.

Muddy Creek Raceway features a technically challenging track that takes advantage of the natural terrain. The rolling hills form massive jumps and high-speed corners, and also provide a great view for spectators.

The weekend will feature the 3rd Annual 88 Live to Ride Benefit Dinner Saturday night hosted by ITP, Big Daddy Motorsports and the Media All-stars crew. The event is a fund raiser for the 88 Live to Ride Fund benefiting the ATV Mobile Medical Unit.

To get to the track, take Exit #63 off I-81 and follow signs to the racetrack.

The south has risen again...well atleast the temperatures!! man it was a scorcher out here today with temps in the 90's and enough humidity to make the shade sweat:p

Dustin Wimmer checks out some action on the track as he gets ready to make a solid comeback in his hunt for the championship.

Friday evening, the track crews were busily getting the track ready for the weekends racing. The track was watered heavily, and then a big summertime downpour hit causing things to get a bit waterlogged. Morning practice was a mudfest

Pappy
06-27-2009, 08:23 PM
The racing was good and the track responded as the bright sun baked out any water that was causing issues

Pappy
06-27-2009, 08:26 PM
We did get a break as some high clouds moved in and stopped the bake for about an hour:p

I am pretty sure you could make a killing with anything that stops sunburn sting...and I would be first inline:ermm:

Pappy

Josh Creamer bites into a snack as he shoots the breeze with JJ. Creamer is a pretty cool cat to hang with, and JJ can keep ya smiling as his quiet southern boy ways makes ya feel like you've known him all your life.

I didn't ask what kind of sandwich Creamer was munchin on, looked pretty good though:p

Pat Brown checks out a pocket dog. cute little thing but would get stepped on fast around my place:p

Pat stuffed it in his pocket to see if it was just a saying!

(I am just kidding, no animals were harmed in the making of this post:blah: )

Pappy
06-27-2009, 08:33 PM
Now this is a sign of things going bad:p

Pappy

He was ok....I bet he is wondering who did NOT tighten the hub nut:p :p

The best racing of the day comes in the form of pint sized heros in the youth classes! My favorite racers battle as hard as the pro's and it is a blast to watch!!

Pappy
06-27-2009, 08:59 PM
19 Pro riders are signed up for tomorrows race

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:05 PM
Joe Byrd has found hard luck the last two rounds....could this be the race we see him back in the hunt for a win?

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:08 PM
All eye's will be on Dustin Wimmer and I am here to tell you, he looked great during practice. I was down in the middle of the track and couldn't hear the announcer very well, but I believe Wimmer took the fastest qualifier

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:12 PM
Wimmer wants it bad, Byrd want's his shot and I am sure Chad Weinen will be doing all he can to keep his winning ways alive!

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:13 PM
Creamer as well has been running strong and if he can get a decent start, he too could be right in the mix battling for another win

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:16 PM
Upperman was running strong at Unadilla and could do well here. the track offers several sections that are technical so it could play out well for him if his Baldwin powerplant can get him to the first turn with the lead

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:20 PM
Ofcourse I would be a fool not to place money on Doug Gust. The man is a machine and counting him out of the hunt would be foolish!

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:24 PM
John Natalie said they had made some changes to his ride and he was looking forward to seeing if they would help get him back up front.

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:27 PM
Pat Brown would love a shot at running for a win, and if determination were all that it took he would be getting them! Brown has been struggling but when he gets things right the boy sure is smokin fast!

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:40 PM
Jeremy Lawson has been struggling as well, and it would do him good to start having some finishes upfront. Bad luck & mechanical issues have been his biggest foe's. Lets hope tomorrow he can get in there and mix it up.

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:44 PM
Pro Am will be exciting as well and with the momentum the kawi boys have going, it will take a heap of speed to get ahead of them and stay there.

Devin Heimes has a solid chance, will tomorrow be his day?

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:47 PM
Billy Cottage was looking mighty strong in practice

Pappy
06-27-2009, 09:50 PM
Cody Gibson would be the safest bet for another win as this talented young racer has been stomping his way to the front round after round

Pappy
06-27-2009, 10:09 PM
Visiting the podium a step behind Gibson the past few rounds has been Joel Hetrick. I have a hunch that we may see him giving Gibson a solid battle from here on out. He was lightening fast today and was giving Gibson a good run in Pro Am Unlimited before running into some mechanical issues.

You just can't go wrong with good competition, and Pro Am is stocked with some of the best you will see all day!

Pappy
06-27-2009, 10:15 PM
Thats about all for now from here. Tomorrow looks to be some killer racing and live coverage should start just before noon.

First of all... you aint my daddy! So lecture someone else.

2nd of all... I totally agree with the support. Its just that he had better luck on a Honda. That is where most of his fans would rather see him. Nothing to do with Can Am's issues at all.

Just talked to Michelle and she said that John's bike seized going over a jump and he crashed hard. They are probably going to head to the hospital to make sure he's ok. I'll post an update when I know more on John's condition. :(

Nice to see that Wimmer is back up there. Its a shame for Natalie. Can-Am has a heck of a program but they must not be doing something right if Gee left. I know in the privateer motosode he said something like they didn't care about what the riders wanted.

Finally back home.....

Wow...Wimmer just charged to the front and took both wins, amazing display of riding! Gust has sold his soul to the devil, he just isn't human!

Natalie....I almost wanted to reach out and drag him off his quad, it was only a matter of time before his engine let go it was smoking so bad. I hope he is ok, looked to be ok but he is a pretty tough piece of meat and doesn't show pain easily:p

Great racing all around!!! Coverage will be started shortly!

I feel bad for John, we all know he's fast enough to run at the front, but the can-am and him just don't mix. I wish Honda would own up and offer him a contract for next year

Sucks Natalie went down hard......looked like he had a great charge going on. Gust = JUST AMAZING!!!!! I was hoping T. Brown would've did a lil better those Yamahas just aren't putting out the power from what I've heard. Wienen just needed a better start and he wouldn't been in the hunt. Byrd is a former champ and to go out ride in his condition shows he not giving up.....Wimmer....Winner same difference....lol. All these pros are great!!

yeah john crashed hard, like pappy said like the second lap of alot of laps it was going off, Lawdog had a case of severe dehydration, since his moms a nurse she helped him out with an IV. that he desperatly needed. watch jeremy is on fire and making his can-am shine above the rest, but like everyone else said this weekend watching from the factory trailers AW SH!# WIMMERS BACK!
