well the motor was replaced in my car a couple months ago (used), and I've never had a problem with it. I've been drivin on the interstate alot lately and noticed when i cruise above around 80 or 85, and temp guage starts to slowely rise. when I slow back down to around 70, it goes back down. now it has never reached the point where its all the way the the "H", but it does get a little about the half way mark before I slow back down. any ideas?

i'd change the thermostat and check the radiator for "fins" being blocked up.. and check the inside of the radiator to see if there is scale build up/deposits that isn't letting it transfer heat very well...

Strap a mechanical gauge on it to make sure its really getting too hot. IDK about on Hondas but most stock "idiot gauges" arnt so accurate .

thermostat is on it's way out, sound like its not getting completely stuck closed but is still disrupting the flow. swap it out and see what happens its a 5$ part that you can get at any local auto parts store.

Make sure your fan clutch is good, and have the radiator rotted out by a professional.

I had the same problem, and I spent a lot of money replacing parts like the thermostat that weren't the problem.

Worst case scenerio, the head gasket could be on it's way out. Is it using any water and you can't tell where it is going?

What type of car is it? Becuase sometimes that might be normal operating temperatures for that motor. Really just check all of the normal cooling decvices. A big thing is to make sure that fan shroud is on correctly. If its not on or installed wrong the fan wont suck the cool fresh air over that radiator to properly cool it down.

I had a 1996 Protege that started doing that, full of radiator fluid. Ended up being a clog in the radiator. If you aren't moving, does your car get hot as you idle?

well I put about 14oz. of water in the radiator and that topped it off. this morning on the way to work, it didn't get hot as I went as fast as I wanted :p . So i will check the water level everyday to see if it goes down and if so, how fast. ( if the shop topped it off, then that means it has 14oz less water than it did 3 months ago)
