My brother bought his son one of the smaller, off-brand "atv's". $600 for a 4-year-old, wasn't too bad of a deal for something that is gonna get out grown in two years. It had a shock on the rear, but I couldn't get it to compress any:p I think it was just a solid piece of metal made to look like a shock.

I've seen people riding off-brand quads like that before, and actually try jumping them. They damn near broke them in half when they landed.:p

Why sue them? Any person that would buy one of those pieces of junk over a real, quality name, isn't going to be any customer of theirs anyway. They're too cheap and all of the products that can-am, honda, kawi..... offer, are going to be in price brackets above what the person that bought those is willing to spend. So it's not like they're losing business to them.

They don't sue them because they only resemble the major brand quads in appearance. They aren't direct copies, therefore, nothing can realy be done.

They arent using the same name for the quads either. Corporations do this kind of thing to each other all the time. Its like asking why McDonalds doesn't sue Hardees and Burger King for making hamburgers that look like thiers.:ermm:

not tryin to start another obama bs thread, but cmon how can you blame that on him... the country is going downhill so obviously its getting worse, I dont think anyone could be doing much better right now. Im not saying hes some super hero or anything like that but the situation we are in right now isnt his fault.

there is only certain things patented and copyrighted, alot of these companies do there research and find ways around the patents, for example the pitbikes with the honda looking engines, honda has patents on there shifting system, oil pump and a few other things i beleive, so you get a ****ty poorly design copycat, some companies do something internally with the shift drum to get past a patent where they shift 12341234 so you better remember your in 4th or your going back to 1st

some of these companies are so fly by night that they probably couldnt track them down

the other day i had a sunl with a bad clutch, the fiber peeled right off the plates, so i had a honda 70 clutch, went right in worked, it was about 2 times the weight, but it bolted right into the motor and has worked flawlessly

the companies do more damage than good they hurt the industry in my opinion, sell dangerous junk, i dont know how many people a week i meet that say yeah i got a honda 175 quad it ends up being a knock off....unsafe junk for kids....

When the pee wees get out there on their chinese fourwheelers, it scares me because they are asking for trouble They are all top heavy, poorly built, and just scary to watch. There's nothing wrong with parents trying to save money here and there, but putting your kids on death traps isn't the way to do it.
