Hey i am new to the 2 stroke world and i am purchasing my first R iwas reading about what to look for when buying one and one thing i was wandering about was
How do you do a compression test and can i make something to do the testing with

i bought a cheap compression kit off of ebay for like $15 shipped. maybe check harbor freight to see if they have one

is it just a gage and hose that screws into the spark plug whole

ok i looked them up on ebay is there any sertin kind or size adapter that i need whats the thread size for the plug

the kit i got came with 2 sizes big and small. but it will not work with the 400ex smaller plug. the 250r has a larger plug than the 400ex.

The one I bought at Walmart came with quite a few adapters--including the small one that fits a 400ex.
As far as how to do the test: install comp tester, hold the throttle wide open, and kick. Generally, keep kicking until the gauge stops climbing. Testing the engine after it's warm is best but even a cold test is useful.

Do yourself a favor and turn off your gas and drain your carb before you do the test, other wise you end up with a cylinder full of fuel and a pain in the A** to get started....Been there/Done that!
