Now I know that most of you guys here, like to Race and ride Tracks.
That's Great and all, and you've got lot's of threads for pics of Racing, Track riding, etc.
BUT, belive it or not,....
Some of us here never ride anywhere that has Bleachers and Hotdog stands ... Announcers, and Loud speakers, ... Spectators and Trophys...
Some of us here do the trail cruising, and exploring new area's, just for the fun of going on a family camp-out,.. having a campfire,... making 'Smores,... telling ghost stories to the munchkins,... or sending them on a Snipe hunt.

I'm certainly not trying to bash or flame anyone here, and I do enjoy everyone's input, and willingness to help eachother out.

I just thought it might be kind of fun to have a thread for pics of us while Camping and Trail riding.

No one is excluded, and everyone is welcome to contribute to the thread.

Show the area's you like to ride.
Show your Campsites and your Families.
throwing horseshoes,... things around your camp,...
Stuff like that.
Show the Trails that make you cringe,... or that make you smile.
Show the stuff that you were able to conqure, (and the stuff you didn't).
Heck, it could be just a pic of the new Helmet and Boots you got for your birthday, or the campfire axe you got for Christmas LOL!.
It wouldn't necessarily have to have a Quad in the pics, just something related to our sport, and the extra activities that go along with it.

just don't post up the Racing and Track type pics/vids.
Pretty much anything else is "Free Game"

what do you say ? do you think it would be a fun thread ???
or will it just get ruined or turn into a bad thing?

Here's some of my Family and I on this past Fathers Day Weekend,...

I'll see if there is a favorable responce to this kind of thread, and if there is, I'll post some more pics, and maybe a few vids.

come on guys, lets see what you've got to add to this???

if this is not the kind of thread that everyone thinks could be Fun,... Then I'll just delete the whole thing.

Nice crew! That place looks like it's hella-hot. IMO there's no better time spent than camping with my family.

I can't wait for my little buddies to start riding with me. ( Mine are 6, 5 and 2 now)

Just got back from a 4 day trip to H&M. It is totally an awesome place to ride. This was the first time that my wife has ridden anywhere but the back yard, lol, & I have to say she did a great job of handling her 250ex & we had a great time. Sorry for not having any pics or vids. I completely forgot my camera & Go Pro, (ha,ha) But the images of my girl having a good time are etched in my mind forever. I highly recommend a trip there. Were're defintely going back in the fall when the leaves change color, that will make some spectacular site seeing.

Ron,
This is going to be a great thread. Looks like you had a nice Fathers Day trip. Tell Nicolas he looks "BAD*****" on his bike & Cameron looks like she is progressing nicely.

O.K., so far so good on the positive responces to this kind of thread, so I'll add a little more.

CNC,
We got lucky on the temps. it only got up to about 82-85 so it was quite nice. Actually got pretty cool at night, mommy and munchkins were in sweatshirts at the campfire, but it DID get very windy, and howled pretty strong all of saturday night. I was going through firewod twice as fast as I had expected.

Scuzz, and BigD
Thanks for the compliments. I could not have had a better Fathers Day anywhere. We all had a blast, and I was very impressed with Cameron's quickly developing skills. We did a 10 mile loop on Saturday afternoon, (Cameron's very first ride where we actually left our campsite !). Then on Sunday, we all did a 20-25 mile loop, and both Mommy and Cameron never complained once! I couldn't belive it!
and I'm talking about some fairly technical trails with rocky hill climbs, sandy washes, rutted downhills, miles of serious whoops, and some twisty brush covered flatlands. This was not all the "bunny hill" type of trails. this was some fairly tough stuff in some spots, and they did GREAT !

Check it out ...

Cameron's very first rutted downhill, (this is her very first time out on a trail). prior to this was about 100 laps on a small basically flat track near camp with a few berms and small whoops.

It was Suzanne's first downhill too. She's a little reserved at it than Cameron, but the fact is,.. she still did it, she did'nt complain, and she actually had fun doing it!
Yea Mommy!

this one is where my wife was leading in some sandy flats. Nothing fast. Just cruising along and checking out the scenery having a great time.

tri5ron i just want to say thank you.. you and your children are wearing proper safety gear and i'm sure since they wear the safety gear you've taught them about the dangers and how to be safe.

i know this is off your topic a lil bit but too many times people use quad as babysitters for kid with no gear what so ever and not the slightest clue about how to ride safe.

ok back on subject here about a month ago i went ridding at one of our local areas and was just enjoying the trails and got the urge to camp out that night and i ended up sleepin on the beach (lake shore- its the beach to me lol) we did some fishing, had a nice campfire and just enjoyed the night.. it was me and my brother just enjoying life and catching up on old and new stories..

Baker,
yeah, the saftey gear is mandatory, Period! I did get an unexpected oppurtunity to teach the kids a little desert saftey in general too. check out the vids below...and that campout sounds like some of "The GOOD stuff".

We have a lake called Silverwood about 50 miles from my house, that I want to do a similar ride with my wife. (send the munchkins to grandma's house for the weekend). just me and the wife. with our rear cargo bags, we could pack a tent, some fishin' poles, couple of hotdog forks, an some goodies.
(And if I'm lucky,.... the only thing that will get used is the tent !)
wish me luck ! LOL!

Powermadd,
cool vid, and really cool riding area ! I love all the trees, bet it's a Blast!

We also had a unexpected visitor on Sunday morning, check it out...

You have some cool pics and videos. My oldest son is just now getting big enough to trail ride. My youngest is only 11 months so it will be awhile before he's ready. I can't wait to take the whole family on a ride/camping trip.

Well, 4th of July is my wifes b-day.
Grandparents kept the munchkins for the weekend, and Momma and Me did a overnighter campout on the quads.

We left the RV at home and packed up the quads with the cargo racks/bags, stuffed in a tent, sleeping bags, stove, food, and a few more goodies and had a BLAST! We rode the Pinnacles OHV area in the San Bernadino Mtn's just north of Arrowhead lake.

Some really nice trails, great scenery, and my wife got to learn a little more about body english, and center of gravity,....yup, she flipped it once, and almost did a second time.
A couple of the trails were WAAAYYY over her skill level, but Kudo's to Her!, she stuck it out, hung in there, and didnt give up!
(heck, I may have to keep her around for a while longer).

anyway, we just got back a couple hours ago, and here's some pics. hope you enjoy...

This shot is not what it may seem.
She was NOT trying to do this ! She was actually STUCK like this, after almost flipping her quad for the second time, and was yelling at me to help get her down, and to "put down that Damn Camera", and "GET OVER HERE !!!" LOL!

Well, I thought I'd bring this one back, and add a little to it.

Last weekend, I had the oppurtunity to go riding with another member here, (BikeSwimLaugh), aka -Steve, and we had a FANTASTIC ride. It was good times, good fun, and great camaraderie.

Steve and I rode our 400EX's. His friend, Gary, rode Steve's wife's Kymco MXU300, and my best buddy, Brian, rode my wife's 250EX.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/Jawbone%20ride%20december%202009/IMG_0591.jpg

We started our little adventure staged at Jawbone Canyon OHV riding area, at about 2600' elevation, and rode from there to about 8000' elevation in the Piute Mtn's, to an old abandoned mine shaft called The Lone Star Mine.
This shot is about 6 or 7 miles into our ride, and straight ahead, about 7 or 8 miles, is the base of the Piute Mtns, (Sequoia National Forest).
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/Jawbone%20ride%20december%202009/IMG_0590.jpg

This is Steve, the leader of our pack, and he did a great job of mapping out the ride using his Garmin Rino GPS. He is a fine rider, and a good point man. He set a challenging but comfortable pace, and did a good job of watching out for everyone to stay together.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/Jawbone%20ride%20december%202009/IMG_0594.jpg

Here's a shot of Gary, and Myself,...
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/Jawbone%20ride%20december%202009/IMG_0598.jpg

Once we got up into the treeline, it got pretty cold, pretty quickly. Snow was in the trees, and a few patches here and there on the ground. we were in some absolutely beautiful terrain, and could not have asked for a nicer place to ride.
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/tri5ron/Jawbone%20ride%20december%202009/IMG_0599.jpg

Here's a couple of great shots, and I may have to use these for our Christmas cards this year...

This is all lined up at the Lone Star Mine, We brought along some flashlights and explored the mine, which was alot of fun. I goes a few hundred yards in, with a few different arms branching off in various directions.

This is about half way inside, and you can see the entrance to the mine just over Gary's left shoulder....

Heading out of the mine, it's colder than a witch's butt up here!
we did a little bit of shooting with our pistols, but it was so cold without our gloves, that we could hardly hold on to the clips to reload.
The sun was getting low, and we needed to start making tracks to get back to camp.

I'd like to say THANKS STEVE ! for a great ride! We covered about 80 miles, and had to go to "reserve fuel" about 10 miles before getting back to camp.
(and yeah, I'm one pretty sore puppy today!)

We had a blast, you guys were alot of fun to meet and ride with. It was a GREAT time, and I can't wait to get the families together for a fun time with the Wives and Munchkins too.

Oh yeah.....that was one heck of a great ride. We'll have to do it again when it's warmer and even bring the families.

Btw...most the pics we're showing are just flat-roads and simple stuff, but we found some narrow & off-camber trails, sandy switch-backs and some fun terrain to enjoy.

My pics are pretty similar....I can't figure-out how to post 'em, probably cause I need a reference site (not sure how that works)

Here's some pics that Steve took on our Jawbone Canyon / Piute Mountain ride.
I'll come back later tonight and add in some descriptions for each pic.

On edit,...
OK, I dont know why these came out so small. Steve sent them to me in a email, for me to post up here. I transferred them to my photobucket account, then added them here, and they came out this size.
Oh well, ...I dont really know how to fix it.

Well I'm not sure if you noticed the hole in the bottom of the engine case. Stock plastic skid plates suck! He lost all of his oil as well as sucked some dirt into the engine. Unfortunately he didn't realize what had happened until the damage was already done. $2000 later and its all good.

As for the weld, that was just pathetic. No Arctic Cats for me!

Whats kind of funny(but not really) is that its the same guy with both machines. Bad luck I guess

Hi Bud,
yes I got your text. Sorry I hadn't replied, and hope you and your family had a great Christmas too.
Things been pretty crazy around here lately. The new business thing, the holidays thing, the f'in divorce thing.
All is well with me and my family, and we are booked to go on a work/play camp trip for Presidents weekend in Feburary.
It's the 2nd annual,
"Clean up Rasor Road, then BBQ and Party our azzez off at the Ranch, bring your rides, your guns, your drinks, and your campfire story lies"

Hey Beags,
yeah the cocnrete business was going bad for a couple of years, and it just took me a while to accept it and throw in the towel.
Lost my a z z on that deal to the tune of about 200k. Bummer !
but,
The new insulation biz iz taking off like a wildfire, so all is good there.
The divorce isn't mine,... it's my 72 year old parents !!!
(should have happened 40 years ago).

all's good on my end, looking forward to a much more prosperous year, and some good seat time on the old 4-hundy :D

CJM, it's all good, I'm glad the "Mud truck" is it the past.
Too F'in much, much maintaince, too much work, too many hours, for near nothing in profits. The new biz should recoup my losses in about 3 years.

Beags,
I'm liking the way you round up your firewood !

right on!
i posted this pic just to see how many people were actually looking at the pic, and then who would comment on it.

yeah i use my quads! looks like the 05' will be off of firewood duties this summer as i picked up a 06 arctic cat 4x4 for 200 bucks right before xmas this yr. YEP! thats what you read $200!
it needs a clutch but with a little tlc it should be good to pull them stumps by summer.

sorry to hear about the biz but i am sure you will bounce back. did you happen to get into the spray foam biz?
i hear there is good money in that.

i hope this thread takes off it this could be cool. come guys let see who has gottin the most badazz camping spot..(this colorado camper has a few pics up his sleeve) but i'll let you fellows try first...

Hope so Ron, its never fun when it doesnt go according to plan but it happens sometimes.

So long as you can recoup your losses and maybe do even better, then its all worthwhile!

Haha, yeah, and I was noticing the Beagle is bringing you a beer too !
I'll give you $500 for the 4x4, but you gotta fix the clutch and deliver. (I'll have the brews on ice waiting at the campsite, with the steaks on the grill ! :D
I got into the blown Cellulose, not the foam.

Here's some pics...

Nickolas, after a hard day of riding, and a good helping of S'mores around the campfire,(notice the Marshmallows, and Graham Crackers on the table next to him)
