I need an 86 style filter boot. I would prefer one that is newer rather than an original so it's flexible and stretches reliably over the larger carbs. Let me know. Thx!

I still need an 86 boot (no resonator hole). They're discontinued and have found a company that I may have remake them for me. Let me know if you want to volunteer one or have a flexible one I'll pay a fair price for.
Thanks!

And ill donate it.
Its not super soft, in fact its kinda rigid. I will soak it in some warm water and see if it softens up. Cover shipping via Paypal and its yours especially if i get 1st crack at a new one or a prototype.
LMK if this interests you.

Can ya get it made out of silicone? That would be spiffy!

I dunno! They make polyurethane stuff and make other intake boots. I'll have to see what they recommend. If it were fuel resistant that would probably be the most important I would guess. I'll let everyone know though when something materializes.

Ya! PM sent. Rigid in this case probably isn't a bad thing...

any news?

The manufacturer has the boot. I'm going to be giving him some custom dimensions to straighten the tube a little, and possibly come in a size that won't have to be stretched to fit the larger carburetors.

I haven't gotten many inquiries though...

Yeah... That's how it is I think. Hopefully your guy can commit to a small run of 10 or so, that way you are not out too much.

I will be down for one on our next R for sure....

as far as inquiries go......usually things go overlooked until you need something as in the boots we are talking about. you find a ripped boot and then you have to get a "new one". well you find out that it is discontinued from honda. what do you do? you find a used one and hope that is in good shape. ket word is hope.

all250r: sending a pm to discuss quantities and sizes

Cool guys. I have to submit a sketch for how I want that bend straightened out a little by the frame rail this weekend. I'll keep everyone posted here and my little site too as the project develops.
Thanks for keeping your R's running guys. Let me know if I can do anything else for you.

It's in development now. The original target date has been for Nov. I posted that update here a couple weeks ago:

I'd be interested in one too!....the stock one sucks with an aftermarket carb....i was thinking about trying to fab something different up but this would be great!

Things are in the works. There's nothing at this point stopping it from happening. I'll be posting updates.

I can't say for sure how much they will cost. But I think it will priced around what regular retail was for the original boot - about $50. Once this is solidified I can take pre-orders. I want to make sure things are in a solid state with the manufacturer and a timeline is more solid too though. I don't want to hold people's money until I can at least deliver a solid date. I'm doing all I can to make this happen, so hopefully the manufacturer is good with his estimates.

The new boot will be a better rubber and can be stretched more easily to a larger carb size. It will also be straighter around the frame rail area which should reduce turbulence at larger throttle openings. We can make it specifically for larger carubertors, but it sounds like it might not be necessary with the material used.
