250r or 450r

if i got the 450r i would probally put a stage 1 cam, high comp piston, k&n, and hmf full system.

both look like nice bikes, and that 250r is gonna be fast, but not as fun to ride in the woods..imo

depending on what terrain and style of riding you do

i have had a 250r and now have a 450r and can say i am happy with the switch

with the 250r you constantly have to be on the clutch if riding in the woods, or through turns in a race..also have the spark plug deal and have to mix gas/oil...which you know gets old after a while

in my opinion this is what i would pick:

dunes = 250r
drags = 250r

anything else = 450r

now dont get me wrong, there are still several people who race xc, mx, and just casually trail ride with 250r, but from my experience i am much happier with my 450 in those situations

450R hands done.But the 250r is definately cheaper and easier to maintain.

i mostly do trails mild to fast, open fields, sand flats...not dunes and my 400ex just doesnt cut it. ive heard that the r is a 2 stroke replica of the 400ex how are they on speed to the 400ex. is a banshee even worth considering??

I would go with the 450r in my opinoin. With the type of riding that you are doing the 450 will benefit you more. personally i wouldn't consider a banshee. You could probably pick that 450r up for 3000 to. he has had that bike on there for awhile.

im going to postpone the buy for a year cause of money issues so should i just bore, port and polish, and slap a cam in the 400?? how well do u think the 400 will sell if i put that stuff in it?? of course the stuff will be professionally done.

the 400 will sell for about the same as it would now

i have seen fully tricked out and bult 400exs sell for like $2500 at most...they just dont sell for what they should
