I have an '07 YFZ450 with a GYTR Slip-on pipe. I'm looking to get an air filter and a jet kit.

What do you guys suggest? Should I get a whole new box? Should I just worry about the filter? If so, what brand do you guys recommend?

I trail ride mainly, I also drag-race often, ride dirt roads, go through water, and jump just a little (no higher than 10 foot in the air).

I was leaning towards this:K&N (http://www.motosport.com/atv/product/KN-XTREAM-POWER-LID/?catalogId=103595)

Thanks, guys.

The link you posted is for the lid, not the Intake filter.

Here is a couple I found

IF you do not want to run with the lid off, because of water, these little guys work real well install them in your air box lid. Here is a pic of the ones I have installed, for wet rides. Otherwise I just run with the lid off.

You can install them anywhere on your air box, and you can install as many as you want. All you need is a 1 inch drill bit, or hole saw.

As for jets I had these before I upgraded to an Elde carb.

Ah, okay. So, what about just a filter? What's a good way to go there? My stock lid sucks with water. Should I remove that clamp at the bottom, or is that dumb?

Also, buying jets seperate, I know nothing about them. I don't know how to install them, or anything. I'm totally dumb with this. Would it be easier to just get a kit?

So, any help would be appreciated with increasing power. Thanks.

Personally I would go with this for a filter set up.
http://store.albaaction.com/shop/LV...50-PROFLOW.html

Jet kits usually com with several diffrent size jets. You will have to pick which ones you want any way. Me I dont see the point in paying $30 for an entire kit full of jets you will not use. When you can pay a couple of bucks for the ones you will use. But it is your money, spend it how you like.

There is a jetting post here in this forum, I breezed thru it, if you filter through the BS there is a lot of good info there.

Here is a link.

I read through there, but really didn't get any suggestions on the type of main and pilot jet to get on my setup and type of riding I do. Any suggestions?

get k+n.. far as im concerned.. you get what you pay for.. they cost more.. but they're great on any machine. for jetting, dont get a kit, like the other guy said, you wont use much of that "kit"
take your carb off.. open it up, look at the main jet, see what size it is, if you have full exhaust and something like a k+n filter.. if your main is like a 150, and it was running right before the mods.. buy a few jets from 155-170ish.. cheaper.. they're only a few bucks a piece vs buying a "kit". and you'll find probably 100 threads on this site about jetting... like if its popping on decel, or blowing black smoke, or what to look for if its rich or lean, but if you got those mods.. (and idk what the 450's run for mains stock but....) say you have a 150 main and it ran good stock, plug looked good, you put exhaust and filter on it, try a 160, if its blowing smoke.. its rich, if not.. run it for a while see how it runs.. check your plug.. if it looks good.. your probably good.. good luck man

i had a K&N on my 07 yfz, it makes a huge difference, its like ading a pipe. i ran it with the box lid off, dont do this if u do alot of riding in wet areas, u will also have to clean ur filter more frequently if u run the box lid off but its worth it!!

Ok. Say I want to run a K&N, with my GYTR slip-on, riding trails, through water, drag racing (remove my air box lid when I do, and getting those little vents when I don't), doing a little jumping, around 1300ft. above sea level, with temperatures between 70 and 90...

How would you guys recommend to jet it? From what I've read, I seen around 168-170 main, with a 45 pilot.

Well K&N makes an air lid also that works amazing. you could check that out. But yea definately go with the K&N filter. But i run a DG Bullet slip-on with a K&N and mine is a 175main 45 pilot. I also have an 04yfz.

I seen that K&N Air Lid, but read it didn't do too well with water.

Another air box cover option is the Pro-tec Moflow air box lid. Keeps the big stuff out but is not water-tight. It's made with Outerwears type material to let air in and stop bigger particles. I run the K&N air filter with a proflow adapter and an Outerwears cover over the K&N (in addition to the lid cover) for trail riding.

Im going to do the Fuel Customs intake on my 07. if any of you had the chance to see youre tract yet you will be convinced with this one. the stocker boot has a sharp corner to avoid the shock and an indent to avoid a bolt on the sub-frame (easier to see with plastic off) the Fuel kit has a larger tract, and an adaptor for the stock carb, no dent for the bolt, and a more gradual corner for better flow while still avoiding the shock. this in turn translates into more air, for more power. the Fuel Customs kit also runs with the Factory Yamaha airbox and gets rid of the nasty backfire screen. the kit has an 8ply K&N style filter versus the 4ply's on the regular KN's and Velocity fiters.

Here is a link to the lid I use. I ride similar conditions as you & am very happy with this lid. All the air & no water.

Can you use any cleaner and oil for a GYTR air filter? Like the K&N type at O'Reily's?

I have the mod quad system with a k&n just like the guy posted at the beginning from rocky mountain. I would highly recommend this setup. I know the fci is better but it's over 200 bucks. I will eventually get on but this one is pretty good. The filter is oversized and comes with a adapter that you have to bolt on to the box. It's easy. The opening on the new filter is about 4 1/2 inches, it's huge. I would say the jetting that you suggested should be pretty close. Maybe a little smaller since you only have a slip on. If you want I can give you a link to a jetting post that has pictures and instructions. It shows you step by step. If you can read you will be able to do it, it's easy.

i know ppl really like there billet adapters and what not because they can hold a larger filter, but have you taken the time to see how restrictive youre tract is? it gets pretty small a about an inch away from the carb. and right after the filter there is a sharp bend that practcally makes the tract garbage. spending 100 bucks extra on an adapter sounds more retarted than buying a tract that could actually help youre quad by removing all the restrictive parts in the tube allowing a smoother un turbulenced flow in air. in reality an adapter and K&N is just as good as a replacment K&N minus the screen and a little bigger hole, and thats not the biggest difference. im saving to buy an FCI because the tract will help out more than an adapter.

im not trying to make a rant, just post my oppinion here.
