i wish i knew what the factory used on the chain when they are brand new. it was almost like vasaline but it stayed on my chain for awhile when the bike was new and didnt fling at all. everything iv tryed is messy and gets all over my skids. iv tryed the chain wax spray and it was alright but im wondering if anyone has a certan brand they like and why.

I use stuff by Belray called super clean chain lube. It goes on white and stays on and is not sticky like chain wax.

One thing I have found is that you should spray the stuff on to the lower chain not the upper one.

If you spray on to the upper chain you are spraying on to the outside of the chain and as it spins all it does is collect dirt and fling off. If you spray on to the lower chain it's on the inside so as the chain spins it actually pushes the oil in to the chain.

........does that make sence?.........here is a pic of where I mean.

Thanks for the info about spraying the bottom of the chain. It made a big difference with it not globbing up on the sprocket, etc...

I thought that was solvent based and was not good for lubrication...... I'm guessing that I'm wrong????
