All I have around my house is sand. So everytime I build a jump, it wears away and jumps like crap after just a little while. Well anyways, I was talkin to Zerorider earlier today when he pulled up to the track (unfortunately I was just leaving when he showed up) and he said he heard about putting carpet on the face of the jump and putting a thin layer of sand over that. What do you all think about that? It makes sence to me... I mean it would help keep the face of the jump more managable, but would any of you forsee any problems with that?

Seems to me like it wouldnt stay in one spot for very long. You just need kicker ramps, about fifty of them. They should last you for awhile :D

it might help, it all depends, i think it would stil wear under the carpet, the sand would just keep pushing out from underneath it

Hmmm... well do you all have any other ideas besides building a bunch of wood jumps... I don't really have the money for a lot of wood and I can't afford to get some good dirt hauled over here, but I really need something so that I can ride more often.

I dont really know how sandy your soil is but if it will hold any moisture you might try watering it and packing it with something like a bobcat.

Ya, but the sand here is pretty loose and it would really hard to get any water out to the area where I would be building.

Oh, and all I have is a tractor w/ a box blade so it would take almost all day to build a decent sized double. Which isn't a problem to me... I think it's fun to build the jumps and everything, but I just thought I would let you guys know.

Dude, I can't afford to haul dirt.

I think I'll just start by building a pretty peaked out whoop section tomorrow, and I'll just see how that goes. A whoop section would be a lot easier to build and I can kinda mess around with different stuff and see what works.

I have $80, a race next weekend, a low paying job, quad payments, and a gas guzzling truck. There are also other reasons why hauling dirt over here is not an option.
