Im assuming you could swap cam easily over, but is it worth it...

The stock YFZ cams have alot more duration and lift over the stock R cams. In theory you should see more power. But I've also heard that the ports in the R's head are smaller than the YFZ. So too much air may hamper that performance. Best thing to do is swap them and see.

I was talking to the guys at FCI and he said they tried the YFZ cams in the R and it lost 2hp on the bottom but picked the 2hp back up on top.

Was the head ported or a stocker? If the ports are too small on bottom end the bike will surely suffer. At higher rpms it would force more air through the ports. A good port job should see gains from bottom to top.

I think it was a stocker.I think he was trying to see what the yfz cams would do with the pipe, filter and programer.I agree with you that a ported head with the yfz cams should pick it up all the way through.
