View Full Version : Cam chain tentioner how to tighten?

Anybody please ! what do you turn or tighten ?Im looking at diagram on rivaracing.com at the camchain tentioner do you take tentioner off then turn or do you turn bolt #9 in middle to tighten?there looks like three bolt on it two on sides one in middle do I take tentioner off or turn the middle bolt ?

i take it your talking about the MCCT the middle one is the one that gets turned , in for tight out for loose

If its the stock one there is nothing to turn beause it will adjust its self. The middle bolt will let you take the spring out but thats about it.

I didn,t know it was self adjustment,but thanks will do ! mine,s stock so i guess i need aftermaket one or Cataway said something about grinding teeth or something to get tighter?

MCCT = Manual Cam Chain Tensioner

ACCT = Automatic Cam Chain Tensioner

So it pushs chain tighter ,what if you welded something to end to push farther or longer bolt ?can you take off tentioner without oil or anything coming out?

no i dont think i would do that ,one thing you can do is take out the acct ,take it to some one with a lathe and have the base cut thiner which will allow the rod to go in further which will give you more clicks , but really the mcct is better.
some guys have even made there own mcct by drilling out the acct one and putting in a threaded rod .
