The rain finally let up today and CJ wasted no time getting his chores done so he could ride:p

This is a huge step up from his 85 and it's going to take him some time to figure it out. I took a ride on it...damn that thing has BALLS!!!!

Looks like it fits him good. I'm still  at the fact that your feet were actually able to touch the ground when you sat on it, and not just dangle.:eek2:

The quad was bought for the weight. Cody is short, and cant use leverage to yank it out of a hole.

The bike...he just liked the idea of having both brands the same (and our dealer wanted us to run kawi-probably because he was overstocked haha)

So far both have been decent except they are both vibration monsters. We will see if the quad holds up

never got that about quads and bikes.
on bikes a 450 is ONLY for heavier riders and for very experienced riders.
450 bikes have ridiculous amounts of power even stock

a 250f is for kids moving up from 85's and for some taller starters.
my 250f has as much HP as my kfx450 does stock...

HOW?! im not the greatest rider ever on quads but i am pretty quick and i could deffinatley use some power considering on on limiter all the time in 3rd(and 4th is too tall to ride). but on the 250f 2nd gear is plenty for the entire track besides one straight away.

it blows my mind :chinese:

Power to weight ratio...thats where you will find your answer

Is your KTM a 6-speed? Wow on the 2nd gear

k4f5x0r
06-18-2009, 08:27 PM
and yea its a 6 speed. on hard pack tracks i use 2nd except for the bgiger jumps. and on the sandtrack im in 2nd turns 3rd straightaway's.

i love sand on dirtbikes. i used to HATE it but once you get half decent its pretty fun becaues it is so difficult. great endurance practice ;)

and yea @ pappy i didnt think of the power to weight ratio. also the fact that quads need ot be eco friendly stock when 250f's are RACE bikes so they have less strict emissions.

All I know is that i wll stick to 4 wheels. On a quad, I will wreck every now and then....on a bike, I will wreck then and NOW!

Sounds exactly like me. I'm fast on a quad, tried the bike thing for a year... eh I've never had a more painful experience in my life.

i cannot even count the times ive went down on my 250 already. I grew up on bikes until i was about 10-11 years old when i first started riding my dads 300ex. then my friends got me into quads and here i am. But since i was 6-7 i rode a 1974 MR 50 two stroke(oldschool no swingarm ) with a clutch and three gears.

i rode that thing until it litterally blew up and lost compression then we sold it just about a year ago. then i rode an xr 100 until one of my cousins drug addict friends stole it for money(so me and my dad assume) and a KX125.

im kinda confused on my opinion between quads and bikes. I love quad and i feel at home on them, but i dont have the money to dump into them to be competitive. so right now its really just a fun faze.

the dirtbike on the other hand i can actually be competitive with. after this summer like i posted earlier i want to get into racing locally. i would go into 250 c stock class. id have a decent chance of atleast keeping up with the guys.

He has had both since he was 7

ahh similar to me then. except he has a dad that encourages it :scary:

my dad never really cared about it too much. he just liked to take a bike up and down the road as fast as he could get it then put it away for 6 more months

Pappy

My dad would get chased by the police and have to hide the bikes for 6 months:p

I was always to young to have a bike...but I got to ride my cousins bikes and trikes. I geuss growing up in a way that always found me being told I was to young, or that I couldn't come because I was a kid etc has made me who I am towards my kids. They go everywhere with me and I will bend over backwards to let them do whatever they wish to do, atvs, bikes, hunting etc. The only stipulation is that they always show respect, act responsibly and we do it as a family....so far its worked out pretty good:p
