I searched first :)

My buddy just got his raptor 350 bored and stroked, and he was talking with the engine builder about my 400ex and the new cam I was going to be putting in (hotcams stage 1).

He said I needed to install new hardened rockers with the cam, otherwise I will have issues not too far down the road.

Is this true? I want to get this shaft in asap!

Thanks!

you need that with the stage 2 cam but not the stage 1, just remember the xr400 has a similar cam compared to the stage 1 and uses the same rockers as a 400ex

DO NOT use hardwelded rockers with a hotcam they will destroy the hotcam

Yeah I always heard it was reccomend to replace the rockers and not to use hardend rockers but that is only recom, its not a have to kinda thing and that is straight from hotcam.

I have a stage 2 hotcam in my 440 with the original rockers. No problems here. The cam has been in there since 2002

Hotcams are not a hardwelded cam and do not require hardened rockers.

Web cams on the other hand take a stock camshaft and weld material onto the lobes so they can put their custom grind on them, thus hardening the camshaft and requiring the use of hardened rockers.
